Presumably the oldest now must be Brian Murphy who played Alvin. I expect being married to one of the Yellowcoats keeps him sprightly. Spike's loss is Alvin's gain!

I believe he's the second oldest, after Barbara Young, who played Stella.

Heartbeat TV also deleted their tweet. Probably a hoax or tied into Bruce Montague's recent passing, but I did find it hard to believe until the now deleted tweet turned up.

    Long live Jo...until the inevitable.

    Tewson's agency confirms she's dead:

Says his health is stable, and looks quite well. However, I think this is the first time he has been seen using a walking stick.

Finnish opera singer, "Finland's national baritone" Matti Lahtinen is 100 today. Couldn't find a proper article yet, but lots of people on Twitter and Facebook are wishing a happy birthday to him and he's someone who won't die off-radar, especially as he's still very active. 74-year career, there's a lot of his songs on youtube

Massive name in Finland, genuinely suprised he's dead. Even though he was quite a hellraisrr and had been very slowly dying for ages, as I once mentioned in the Immortals thread:

Rest in Peace. Raymond Briggs who made the story, characters for my favourite animated film and Vesa-Matti Loiri, one of my favourite actors, horrible day this far

Yeah, it was a surprise for me too, despite his past health issues. It has now been confirmed he had liver and esophageal cancer. He apparently could have lasted two more years if he had surgery, but he refused all treatment.

Best of luck to everyone playing.

@arghton and anyone else, suggestions for 2023? I'd surely add dr NakaMats, Milan Kundera, Gershon Edelstein, Zagallo if he survives. I always tend to forget some notable performances. Anyway Yuriko, JPE and Satya Mohan Joshi have gone beyond human possibilities this year. These fuckers would not die even if repeatedly shot in the head.

Surely Gorby, Pelé and Benedict deserve spots if they survive the year? I think Jean Marsh would be a good addition as well, judging by the opening post of her thread by msc.

Sad to hear this. He was great in The Grump, though the role (and the publicity that followed) must've been quite strenuous for him, as he had the career-ending stroke fairly soon after it premiered.
