    Celine Dion

It’s not the site or the scene I’m complaining about, it’s one specific joke I found to be disrespectful. I acknowledged the irony of me getting upset about it considering the site I’m on, but I don’t think mocking someone dealing with a horrific life-threatening condition is something you should just accept.

    Celine Dion

I watched the documentary, I didn’t need to click the link. Talking about it or sharing the clip isn’t what I have a problem with it’s making jokes about it

    Celine Dion

I’m aware of the nature of this site, but is that really necessary? That footage is really upsetting. Have some empathy

    Hollywood Possibilities

She must be one of (if not the) oldest actors to star in a leading role of a movie? The only other one I can think of is Lillian Gish in The Whales of August at 93

    The 100 Club

The “120” year old was apparently actually only 96. Interesting that we don’t have any supercentenarian actors yet

    Donald Sutherland

Well considering their strategy this year is picking random old celebs for (mostly) no reason other than age, I’d consider it a miss

    Donald Sutherland

    Another miss!

    1. Jimmy Carter

I wouldn’t read into it. They’re probably trying to avoid a Betty White situation, if he didn’t make it to 99 nobody would’ve really noticed. 100 is a nice round number, I hope he makes it

If he ends up doing what Betty White could not it’ll be quite a shock

    The 4th Death of 2024

Surely this must be one of the longest gaps between deaths in Deathlist history?

    1. Jimmy Carter

Well he’s did it again! We’ll still have to wait a while yet to see who the first President to die in May will be.

You’re right, how dare I generalise based on years of observations of stupid herd mentality behaviour on that site, lock me up! I’m sure they have plenty of insights into Jimmy Carter’s condition that we’re unaware of

Twitter users aren’t really known for their intelligence or fact-checking
  14. There are definitely levels of fame and notability. Many of the names mentioned aren’t noteworthy enough to ever have made the Deathlist. Someone who is only “known” for a stint on a long forgotten short running 80s British children’s show and hasn’t acted since is clearly not on the same level as a Jimmy Carter or a David Attenborough

Sad about this, she might not have been part of the Golden Age but her younger sister Geraldine Brooks made her debut in one of my favourite Joan Crawford films, Possessed (1947). Her older sister outlived her by almost 50 years

Do we know anything more? Just saw her in an episode of Charmed from 24 years ago and she was playing an 80 something back then, assumed she was long gone, but according to every other source she’s still alive. Can’t find any evidence of the 2016 date of death outside of this thread
  17. I didn’t say literally nobody had died this year but only 3/50 almost halfway through the year isn’t exactly a strong showing is it. Those you mentioned aren’t exactly household names anyway
  18. Well the title of this thread couldn’t be any less true Apparently death really does take a holiday

Do you know him? Have you spoken to him?

Marita Camacho Quiros (former First Lady of Costa Rica) voted in the April 2022 presidential election at the age of 111. I’m not sure if she’s the oldest to ever vote but definitely up there https://m.facebook.com/story.php?id=1010547626&story_fbid=1395374867588006

Well you’ve jinxed it now haven’t you! I’ve been thinking the same but wouldn’t dare say it

    Eva Marie Saint

I’d put Olivia de Havilland as Melanie in Gone with the Wind above all of them personally! It’s the most iconic movie of all time, still the highest-grossing movie ever when adjusted for inflation, and her part was bigger than most of the others mentioned (with the exception of Kirk Douglas)
