Each year's most significant Deathlist miss

Yes that of course makes sense. Couldn’t change it yesterday due to starting work 5 minutes after the news broke. -

If Pope Benedict XVI goes before Sunday, will he surpass Queen Elizabeth II as the most significant death of 2022?

This thread is to discuss any examples of deceased celebrities whose age at death is the same number as the last two digits of the year they were born, so for example anyone born in 1958 who died at the age of 58. I would be interested to find out how many examples there are. The criteria: - Candidates must be famous enough to be eligible for their own Wikipedia page - Anyone who died in 2023 or 2022 must have been born in 1961 (age 61) or 2011 (age 11) - Anyone who died in 2021 or 2020 must have been born in 1960 (age 60) or 2010 (age 10) - Anyone who died in 2019 or 2018 must have been born in 1959 (age 59) or 2009 (age 9) And so on, until the beginning of time… EDIT: Prince example removed since he died aged 57, not 58. SECOND EDIT: odd numbered years added to take into account people who died before their birthday that year.

Age at death - same as the year of birth
Hartnell 1999 replied to Hartnell 1999's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Ahh yes I see the misunderstanding now. Taking my original example, somebody born in 1958 could also have died aged 58 in 2017, depending on the exact month they were born. I will change the opening post to take account of this. -

Some more valid examples (taken from the QEII thread) Born in 1953, died at 53 (2007) - David Ervine, Steven Pimlott Born in 1954, died at 54 (2008-09) - Anthony Minghella, Ian Anderson, Michael Majerus Born in 1955, died at 55 (2010) - Peter Christopherson -
The first artist born in each year to have a UK no.1 single
Hartnell 1999 posted a topic in DeathList extra-curricular
An interesting piece of trivia in the music world is that Billie Eilish was the first person born in the 21st century to get to no.1 on the UK single charts. Since this forum has considerable knowledge of birth and death dates, I’d be fascinated to delve deeper and find out the first people born in each year and decade to score a no.1 single ever since the charts were first introduced in 1952. All the more poignant since the 14th of this month will mark 70 years to the date when it all began. If any members could help me complete the list below, that would be much appreciated. I will make edits in due course. Even more intriguing to think that if Nixon hadn’t stood for the 1972 presidential election, there would have only been two days between the new president’s inauguration and Lyndon’s death (inauguration day always falls on Jan 20th after the election).

One week since starting this thread and I must say I am really amazed at how much progress has been made on the master list in this time. Thank you all for your contributions. We still have a few years without any entries, so I will make another mini-list for artists born in those years who I would like to see some advances on. Hope this helps: 1954: Jermaine Jackson, Adam Ant, Annie Lennox (Eurythmics) 1960: Bono (U2), John Taylor (Duran Duran) 1966: Rick Astley, Janet Jackson 1967: Vanilla Ice 1968: Kylie Minogue, Will Smith, Celine Dion 1969: Mariah Carey, Bobby Brown 1972: Liam Gallagher (Oasis) -
I reckon he’ll go next month. December seems to be a popular month for American politicians dying with George HW Bush, Bob Dole and all that.

Unfortunately not. That song was released in 2013 and Sam Smith beat it to #1 by a month. -

Sally Lindsay from St Winifred’s School Choir (1980) trumps him though, unless she was of course uncredited. -

Updated version of list to include years in which artists reached #1. Just need to check whether these are all definitely correct before I update the master list in the OP -

That might be an excellent idea for a separate topic - Last people by year of birth to score a No.1. Probably better to focus on this one first though. -

Hartnell 1999 replied to Hartnell 1999's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
To make researching easier, I’m going to post a series of separate mini-lists of all UK No.1 scoring artists by year of birth, then we can use the Offical Charts archive to cross-reference from this list and determine the first chart topper from each cohort, which I will add to the master list. Starting with the 1986-2004 cohorts: 1986: Danny Jones, Alex Turner, Andy Nicholson, Matt Helders, Ellie Goulding 1987: Dougie Poynter, Joss Stone, Sophia Wardman, LadBaby 1988: Rihanna 1989: Rebecca Creighton, Lauren Bennett, Taylor Swift 1990: Geneva Lane, Rita Ora 1991: Pixie Lott, Joe McElderry, Ed Sheeran, Anne Marie 1992: Sam Smith 1993: Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Cher Lloyd, Ariana Grande 1994: Harry Styles, Justin Bieber 1995: Jessica Smith*, Kieran Alleyne, Jordan Lee 1996: Lorde, Dua Lipa 1997: Jorja Smith, Raye 1998: Shawn Mendes, Louisa Johnson 1999: Lil Nas X 2000: 2001: Billie Eilish 2002: Jawsh 685 2003: Olivia Rodrigo 2004: Gayle * Uncredited or disputed -

Still useful information though. This data can be used to collate and compare different artists/musicians who share the same birth year, then the first out of that cohort to score a No.1 can be picked for the OP list’s entry for that year. Carry on researching! -

I think you’ve misunderstood the topic title. I’m looking for the first artist born in a particular year to have a No.1 single, rather than the first No.1 single of each year with that artist’s birth date. Hence the Billie Eilish example in the opening post. -

As i read this post, Micky Dolenz would claim the 1945 spot since he got to No.1 before Marmalade. Same with John Lennon trumping Tom Jones for 1940. -

Spice Girls still topped the charts before Boyzone, therefore Bunton would take the honour of first No.1 from the class of ‘76. -

Very good Was Jessica Smith actually credited on the Teletubbies hit? If so that would make her the youngest person ever to score a UK no.1, which to my understanding I had always assumed was Jimmy Osmond. -
