On this day 45 years ago, Real Madrid’s president Santiago Bernabéu died aged 82. He had also been a Real Madrid player (during 14 years) and manager (only one year in 1926-1927) During his record 34 years term, from 1943 until his death, Real Madrid won 6 European Cup (record equalled by Fiorentino Perez) , a record 16 Liga and 6 Copa del Rey. Real Madrid stadium was named after him in 1955.

Not necessarily. A person can live several years with dementia. My great aunt had dementia when she was 90. She died aged 97 from Covid.

He is not of French origin, but in 1960 he came to France where he did all his career and still resides. As an actor, his most important role was Bobo in Les Bronzés Today Hungarian Prime Minister (since 2010) Viktor Orbán is 60. His first term as Prime Minister was between 1998 to 2002. He is the president and the Fidesz party since 2003, having previously served between 1993 and 2000. -

Since this post, Terry O’Neill, who led Arsenal to the 1980 CWC final has died on 28 July 2022. Also, Walter Smith, who guided Glasgow Rangers to the 2008 UEFA Cup Final, has died on 26 October 2021. He’s the only manager post 2002 finals to die.

Former Czech football player Vladimir Šmicer is 50 today. With Czech Republic, he participated at three Euro (finalist in 1996). He was his country all-time leading up goalscorer until April 2003, when he was overtaken by Jan Koller. At club level he notably won Champions League and UEFA Cup with Liverpool, and French Championship and League Cup with Lens, its only titles in its history. -
How on earth can a guy like that be even eligible for parole ? Same thing in Belgium : Marc Dutroux is eligible since 2013 ! Of course he was denied for parole at each attempt, but still !

Today South Korean former footballer Cha Bum-Kun is 70. He is South Korea joint-most capped player (with Hong Myung-Bo) and all time leading goalscorer. He was one of the first Asians to play in Europe (the first one in Bundesliga) and the first to win a UEFA club competition (the UEFA Cup with Frankfurt) As a manager, he led his country to the 1998 World Cup but was fired after two matches. He was the first Asian to participate to the World Cup as a player AND a manager. -
