Ethiopian runner Haile Gebrselassie is 50 today. On 10.000 metres he was was 2 times Olympic Champion in 1996 and 2000. He was 4 times in a row World Champion. He broke 3 times (1995,1997 and 1998) the World record, and the last time it lasted 6 years until it was beaten by fellow countryman Kenenisa Bekele. In marathon he broke Kenyan Paul Tergat’s world record in 2007, becoming the second (and to date the last) after the latter to have held the World Record in both Marathon and 10.000 metres. His WR in marathon was beaten 4 years later by Kenyan Patrick Makau.

Also recognizable by the Texan hat he always wear. George W Bush gave it to him.
