Ethiopian runner Haile Gebrselassie is 50 today. On 10.000 metres he was was 2 times Olympic Champion in 1996 and 2000. He was 4 times in a row World Champion. He broke 3 times (1995,1997 and 1998) the World record, and the last time it lasted 6 years until it was beaten by fellow countryman Kenenisa Bekele. In marathon he broke Kenyan Paul Tergat’s world record in 2007, becoming the second (and to date the last) after the latter to have held the World Record in both Marathon and 10.000 metres. His WR in marathon was beaten 4 years later by Kenyan Patrick Makau. -

I knew, I was talking of the next presidential election -
Sergio Bravo, Mexican player at the 1954 World Cup, is indeed dead in 1997 aged 70. About his 1954 teammate, Cortés, I found an article about a player named Arnulfo Cortés, who (like Ranulfo Cortés) was a forward and played for CD Oro. He died in 1994. Maybe it’s the same player ?

What difference does make ? He also could have OD with « millionaire drugs » !

On this day 80 years ago, former French President (1920-1924) Alexandre Millerand died aged 84.
