OK looks like I'm organising and 'Arry has ruled (see RA post above). There will be a DL Mini Con in Canterbury, UK, on September 29th. If you want to attend please PM me for details.

Sadly that seems to be the norm these days mpfc, fed by a media that enjoy portraying us Scots as hating the English. I have said this before, this is not the case, yes it happens in a minority, but it isn't the view of the majority. I would agree with charon in his post, we really are the 'lost souls' and we perfected the lament long ago, we have a history of losing in battle as a nation and continue to do this to this day in football. Damn, posted before I finished, anyway, the meet up in Canterbury is a 'mini-con'. Not a full on DL Con VI, it came about because I am going to be on holiday in the area and others who live there thought it might be nice to meet up for a pint. Can I add I am bringing 2 friends along, neither are DL'ers Who decides if it is a "full on DL con" or not?

Micro con today. Me 'arry and several pints of Kent's finest. Shame about the 8 mile cycle home...

Don't forget the "methodology" involves having people we want on the list - hence Clive Dunn when it is obvious he's not going soon, if ever. -

There is a huge variation on prices starting from about £29 a night if you are happy to stay in a dormitory with strangers. Shared facilities in a basic hotel start from just under £40 a night, if you are prepared to stay in the suburbs there are some great deals. I booked my hotel this afternoon and paid a bit more as I wanted to stay in the city centre and have my own bathroom. I got a hotel 350 yards from the main train station for just over £70 a night including breakfast. I booked through my local travel agent rather than online, she spent about an hour with me going through all the possibilities and, having visited Amsterdam herself on a few occasions, she had some great advice. The hotel I ended up with is one that she has stayed in and she recommended it. I was very glad I did it that way as, when I came home and looked it up online, the cheapest price for my room through tripadvisor.co.uk was £89. There is a 5% tourist tax to pay on all hotel rooms, for me it only works out at an extra £11. I am relieved to have my travel arrangements and accommodation sorted out, now I am just waiting for my passport to arrive. It took her an hour to end up recommending a hotel she already knew for a smallish slice of £70?

No, 2011 for her Whaddya reckon Welshman, 2012? Well, if by a miracle she should last the next 5 days...we'll see :-)

While I find most of this list rather bland and predictable... I do have to admit that I find the inclusion of Bashir Al-Assad to the 2012 DL... I would consider his death very possible after what happened in Lybia with Gaddafi and the fact that he isn't old, frail or sick when he dies would make the hit even more rewarding in my opinion.... I'm not so sure that he would be a good pick. 1) He is not as isolated as Gaddafi. 2) He'd probably have the good sense to run earlier, unlike Gaddafi. 3) I can't see Nato helping out in this instance - which was the beginning of the end for Gaddafi. He won't make the list

Did you look at this years "unproductive " list? For example at #30?

Two in a week for my 50

Hitchens was nailed on for a DL 2012 spot, certainly top 10. Damn. At least he was in my long list. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16212418

Just a bit more pertinent. Ideas and Possibilities is more about the heath and status of celebs which might be in the next year's list. This is much more a debate as to whose actually going in, with a couple of weeks until D-Day... Either way, it's akin to taking Stevie Wonder around the Louvre or appointing Beckham to the CERN committee, believe me. I know who picks the list and I know how likely they are to either read or take the blindest bit of notice*. Still, it's all good fun and I'll try and come up with my own list of ten before the year's out. * with the possible exception of Welshy Can confirm I am reading the thread ::-)
