Oh no....I thought he had a fair few years in him. A sad day for kid's TV... Bugger, he was going to be my joker in DDP next year. I'm guessing you wouldn't be the only one, Handrejka!

It was indeed the Masters Club that I was referring to. It was probably the fight that made it (in)famous, and why it sticks in my memory that Medati was the owner. I've driven past it recently, it's just a bar now, no longer "Masters".
-
Paul Medati "well-known for having a fight with friend and fellow player Alex Higgins in 1986" has died aged 65. I remember him from the 80s when he featured regularly in the big tournaments without getting beyond the early rounds. I think he also owned and ran a club in Stockport more recently.

Kerryn McCann receives obituary from the Guardian. It's very sad. I was hoping she could defeat it. We must treasure all the days we live and value all that we have in our lives. Very sad indeed. I was there to see her win the Commonwealth gold in 2002. A very small field, if I recall correctly, but she was without doubt a very talented and determined athlete.

Kerryn McCann is now suffering from liver cancer. Kerryn McCann has died

Well done Youth! My, being the wife of a prominent composer / conductor seems to promote longevity, although there seems to have been a recent trend: the wives of Vaughan-Williams (96), Barbirolli (97), Milhaud (105) and now Bliss (104) have all succumbed in the last couple of years. Maybe we need to check if there are any more candidates out there...

Guy Peellaert Belgian Pop artist who created Bowie's infamous "Diamond Dogs" cover, as well as work for the Stones and well-known film posters ("Taxi Driver", "Paris, Texas"), has died aged 74.

Irving Brecher dies at 94. He wrote 2 of the Marx Brothers' films, "At the Circus" and Go West" as well as being an uncredited writer on "Gone with the Wind". He also shared an oscar nomination for the screenplay of "Meet Me in St Louis" starring Judy Garland. "Brecher recently recalled his first meeting with Groucho Marx: I said, Hello, Mr. Marx. He said, Hello? That's supposed to be a funny line? Is this the guy who's supposed to write our movie? Then I said, Well, I saw you say hello in one of your movies, and I thought it was so funny I'd steal it and use it now. Grouch smiled, then he bought me lunch."
