I thought from his recent rather static performances (Glastonbury, HRH's bash) it had been determined that BW was already dead!

Neil Williams Former Middlesex cricketer who played 1 test for England in 1990 dies of pneumonia at 43. The link currently says no more than "Williams Dies at 43" but I'm sure those good folks at Yahoo will update it soon! Confirmed on Ceefax

Well done Iain! Doesn't it feel good to report the deaths of people whom some of us have a chance of recognising?! I personally remember Michael Attwell as the annoyingly arsey DCC Stevens in the excellent "Wycliffe". I was surprised to learn that Lynne Perrie was as old as 75! Suppose that gives her more of an excuse for all those embarrassing post Corrie chat / panel show appearances.

Definitely not like this!

Jean Desclaux French International Rugby Union coach from 1973 - 1980 Don't think he quite qualifies as a "Near Miss", but maybe Iain will beg to differ...

Stuff him!

Adwaitya the (apparently) 225 year old tortoise has died

Based on recent comments in the "Near Misses" thread, I now feel vindicated in having created this one! Either Iain is using the wrong criteria for "famousness" or he is a highly intelligent and well-read being to whom all these persons, non-entities to us lesser mortals, are well known!

An update on your "great find" here - good spot, could bear fruit soon...

World renowned or Not exactly famous. You're at it again, Iain!

According to IMDB, the following died on 15th March: Thora Hird (2003) Dr. Benjamin Spock (1998) Aristotle Onassis (1975) Miles Malleson (1969) Lester Young (1959) H P Lovecraft (1937) Luigi Cherubini (1842) Plus A whole host of other people I've never heard of I would say that's a pretty poor return, so not a particularly "auspicious" date! Anyone want to do stats on the most productive date? Guess there would have to be a "famousness" test in there - very complicated!

Here we go again! Bin Laden is dead

Tempus, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't necessarily make it drink the water, if you get my meaning regards a certain member. But you can always shoot the horse! ... and Iain would probably post its death in this thread! (Yes, I understand Iain IS the horse, so that would not be possible, but you never know with Iain....)

First the Tortilla Chip lady and now this guy. Could there be a theme emerging here?

I scored a hit with César Franck on Death List 1890. Not been too many famous Belgians since then.

TF, Is that a clever pun on the fact that his wife was the actress Valerie Hobson, who starred with John Mills in "Great Expectations", or am I giving you undue credit?

Paul, is that former US soccer football star Alexi Lalas with the strange headgear on your avatar?! (Of course, this will make no sense as soon as you change it!)
