    Dead Drummers

Another article says "he opted to stay with Cyril Davies and the All Stars"... 'nuff said! Seriously though, seems that the man was happy in his choice and didn't regret it. After all, Charlie Watts died about 20 years ago - it's just that nobody noticed!

    Dead Drummers

Carlo Little Was asked to be the drummer with the Rolling Stones, but turned it down. Drummed with Screaming Lord Sutch, amongst others. Can't find much more than this brief obit at the moment.

    Near Misses for 2005

Matthew McGrory 7' 6" actor dead at 32. He played the "giant" in "Big Fish" (Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney). Death probably related to medical problems brought on by "gigantism". Update: Apologies... Tempus Fugit had already posted this on the previous page.

    Charlie Drake.

Ah, when will we tire of Davidson's sophisticated humour?!

    My last post

I'll wager "the authority" won't be able to resist checking back in a few days from now to see whether this and all other posts have been deleted or, if not, to see our responses to this one. Obviously, will just have to suffer in silence - can't post a response now he (/ she?) has made the above declaration. "leading a real life away from a computer screen" - where ya going? Outer Mongolia? Mars? Skelmersdale?

    Hello

He's already on this year's list: 2005 entry So if he dies VERY soon, there won't be any need for him to be on the 2006 list. Had one of your printing sets when I was a nipper, by the way - hours of fun!

    Near Misses for 2005

Console yourself with this: "Hardly a green, just a faint airborne premonition That soon a green tinged mist will envelop supple birches. The timorous northern love of the slow greening of birch trees. The waiting. The breathlessness. The almost choking tenderness. Unseen. Unheard. The buds of birch unfurl. There's still A lull between the owl's moan and the lark's trill. It's still A black time - a pulsating streak between the white and the green. Not quite a green, just a faint airborne premonition." (The Black Time by Vizma Belsevica, translated from the Latvian by Mara Rozitis ) says it all!

Wouldn't want to encourage people to post just so that they don't have their membership withdrawn.

    Ideas and Possibilities for 2006

Just watching the cricket, and came across this snippet about Kerry Packer (courtesy of Wikipedia: Full entry): "Partly because of his apparent hard drinking and smoking, Packer's health has long been a problem. He has reportedly suffered eight heart attacks, and in 1990 he suffered a massive attack while playing polo in Sydney, and was clinically dead for six minutes before he could be revived. After recovering, Packer donated a large sum to the NSW Ambulance Service to pay for equipping all NSW ambulances with a portable defibrillator. He has also suffered from a chronic kidney condition for many years, and in 2000 he made headlines when his long-serving helicopter pilot, Nick Ross, donated one of his own kidneys to Packer for transplantation." Can't find him using the search facility (no surprise there!). Has he been mentioned as a possibility before?

P.S. If we do decide to go for this, I'm not putting my 5 in until nearer the end of the month, to avoid the frustration of them popping in the meantime! Timing will be of the essence!

Hmm, there's a thought! Mini monthly death lists. It's a long time to wait from one year to the next. Must be very frustrating when you have just spent months compiling the list for the coming year, posted it on 1st Jan and the next day, out of the blue, some "celeb" is reported as being "in a critical condition". Could have a thread for each coming month where members or otherwise could pick 5 names - limit to maximum of 3 from this years list plus 2 "dark horses". Get them posted before the end of the previous month and see who has the best success rate. Any takers?

    Near Misses for 2005

Derek Hilton Arranged the Coronation Street theme music, and often appeared as the pianist in the "Rovers Return", accompanying Rita's delightful singing. Article says "who has aged 78" [sic] - maybe they'll correct it later!
