1/4th dead Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, How long can they Carry On?
Alphonsin replied to a topic in DeathList Forum
I'm quite a big Neil Young fan, but prefer the cover version of this song by the Cowboy Junkies on their album Caution Horses [which is an all-round excellent album]. -
She seems fairly interesting. But on a different note, I see that Aldous died on the day JFK was shot. Bit of a bummer for him and CS Lewis [died same day, too] what with the lessened media interest. A bit like Mother Theresa and Diana. Reminds me of the David Lodge novella Home Truths where a hack writes a very indiscreet story about a friend, which he regrets, but is saved by the fact it's published the morning of Diana's death so gets no attention. Or something like that, if I remember correctly. Anyhow, don't bother reading it because I've just spoilt it. Ho hum.

The Deathlist Christmas Special!
Alphonsin replied to Lady Die's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the first sentence, but if I'm not then it certainly isn't true. The sample size referred to in the second sentence is way, way too small to draw any significant conclusion from. From another angle, though, it makes sense that there should be a disproportionate number of deadpool hits earlyish in the year for the reason that we have the opportunity in December to put down the names of people who have conditions likely to knock them off very quickly indeed, such as lung cancer etc. It would make sense that these hits would bunch in the first few months. [Just as if you were in a pub and somebody asked you to point to people who would go to the bar within the next 20 minutes, you'd point to the people with nearly empty glasses first -- and these people would be more likely to go in the next five to ten minutes than ten to twenty minutes. Unless they're Scottish ]. -

Happy Birthday, AtJ! PS: Am just doing some nonsense with an anagram finder, so thought I'd quickly discover that Anubis The Jackal can be reworked as "Chaste labia junk". -
Read Any Good Books Lately?

So I guess you've never said "wakey wakey", "hear, hear!", "fifty fifty" etc... ... quite aside from constructions such as "I said that that man would die" and "if he had had a better doctor, he would be alive today." [Cue the record-setting sentences along the lines of: John, where Janet had had "had", had had "had had".] -
Blues guitarist Jerry Ricks has died. Woah, I woke up this morning... and found I was dead. Yeeeah, I woke up this morning... and found I was dead. And you know it really isn't such a good thi-i-i-i-ing... To wake up one morning... and find that you're dead.

The Deathlist Christmas Special!

The most popular month for dying is January. The rate then falls gradually until September, which is the month in which least people die, before steadily rising again from October. At least that's what happens in the UK. You'll find the information somewhere on the Office for National Statistics website but I'm afraid I don't have the energy just now to look for it. The UK has a counter-intuitively high number of "excess winter deaths". Here's why -

Doubt it, in fact I'd be dubious about him getting the bare qualification for the DDP of a tabloid paragraph. They like more freakish stuff so I'm seriously thinking of nominating Winnie Langley to puff her last in 2008, but this guy.....not sure. Phelps is getting coverage for not being dead

Didn't pass by earlier to mention it 'cos I thought somebody else would notice, but poker legend Chip Reese has died. He probably won more money at cards than anybody else in history.

[Pointless post deleted, as hadn't realised Ian Smith was on the list] link re-added just for the hell of it

Perhaps not much more ironic than a professional Russian roulette player dying of a gunshot wound to the head, but anyhow... Snake man's charmed life comes to an end.

I thought I was last to have it, so phoned the place hosting us the next day to see if they'd found it anywhere. Me: Do you have a ****** there? Surly barman: No of course we don't have a ****** Me: I mean, perhaps you've found one that was left yesterday. Surly barman: We don't. Me: It's only a little model one, of course Surly barman: We don't have any ******s Me: Could you ask your colleagues? Surly barman [away from phone]: There's somebody on the phone who's lost a f****n' ****** Voice in distance: a ****?! Surly barman [away from phone]: Yes, a f****n' ****** [pause] Surly barman: There is no ****** here Me: Thank you. If one does turn up... Surly barman, interrupting: Goodbye Deathcon... you kind of had to be there. Nice to meet all who were. [Yes, I spotted Jeremy Beadle at the bar as well. He's got an enormous penis. But on the other hand, he doesn't...]

Do idiots on this forum still mess around with moving posts unnecessarily and deleting things for no good reason except for moronic comments like mine??

This site really f***ing sucks now that posts are being indiscriminately deleted. A shame, as it used to be quite good.

This one seems to be a non-starter? Or is Alphonsin too busy? Even though I wasn't going to take part, it would've been interesting to see the selections. Hi to all, Haven't managed to log in for a few months. March 6 start. Will make up for absence sometime over the weekend, or just after, with a rambling post. Alphonsin

Glad to see the idea's garnered some interest. OK, it'll be a February 1 start. Will address some of the other issues in a day or two -- when I'm not completely groggy after a big work do as I am this morning. Meanwhile, warm Christmas greetings to everybody and, if I'm not on the forum before, have a happy new year. [And, yes, have a happy new year even if I am on the forum before...]

Indeed, I'm aware some people won't be, hence the optional nature. In the past I've worked in connection with gambling -- I think it's a fun thing, but it's not something I feel comfortable coercing people into. Yes, it's soon. I think though that it'd be a shame not to go with a calendar year. It gives people something to do on Boxing Day as well. Oh, I forgot, you guys work on the 26th...

I'm confident that the fugitive Laden will be killed -- and proof of his death provided -- within a matter of days, preventing him from taking more innocent lives.
