Can I add HBOS for a second time? Due to an error, a BACS payment due into my account didn't arrive, leaving it just over £1 short to pay a direct debit, HBOS have bounced the DD and inform me there is no way to override the cancellation even though I spoke to them first thing this morning just as the computer rejected it, plus they will be charging me £35 for this. I could understand if it was something that happened regularly, but I'm never overdrawn and I've never not had enough money in my account to cover outgoing payments. Now I have the pleasure of trying to recover the bank charges from the company who 'forgot' to pay me in the first place, I could scream with frustration . 35 Quid?! I thought ridiculously high bank charges had been outlawed in the UK. Didn't someone take their bank to court a couple of years ago and win, thus forcing all banks to eat humble pie and pay back lots of charges for bounced cheques etc?

Do you think if he starts decomposing he'll pollute the atmosphere any less?

    Death List Convention

We should find out what the WLAN situation is in that part of Chipping Norton. Perhaps we can set up a video conference with some of our more distant members. That's if somebody doesn't mind getting beer all over their laptop. I suppose clingfilm might be an option.

    The Dead Of 2008

That's interesting, I was just thinking about him yesterday. His Marches to Miss the Victory are brilliant. Here's another one.

    World War I Veteran(s)

And Bill Stone's wife came over and said, "What was it like then Bill?" And Bill said, "what? oh the war you mean? It was awful, guns and bombs and most of it was no fun at all. And I've got this bloody bit of shrapnel in me knee" who's next?

    Gary Glitter

I see some witchhunter has started up a group on Facebook campaigning to have him arrested. I'm not really sure if we are allowed to lock people up as a prophylactic measure, although anything is possible these days. And if I'm not mistaken the Bill of Rights of 1689 frees us from fine and forfeiture without a trial.

    Johannes Heesters

Saw a trailer the other week for this film which included a brief glimpse of the old man. The title translates as: "1½ Knights -- In Search of the Ravishing Princess Herzelinde" The film appears to be a German comedy. Edit: Here's the trailer.

There was a time, not that long ago, when clay pigeon shooting was not considered a suitable topic for discussion on these fora. I'm pleased to see that that now seems to have changed for the better.

    Margaret Thatcher

There's some interesting stuff here about Thatcher's "struggle with Alzheimer's" I can imagine some people might take a certain pleasure in imagining her suffering the horror of being told her husband is dead over and over again.

    Where Is Stayin Alive?

Very nice, much clearer and more manageable. But I miss the Gothic script in the banner a bit.

    Facebook

Facebook is now officially crap. This is because they have removed Scrabulous and merged PetrolHead with something called speedracing. Shite, shite, shite! As Tempus Fugit might have put it.

    The Dead Of 2008

I see Andrea Pininfarina was killed in a car crash recently. Perhaps it's been mentioned already, but if so I couldn't find it. Or perhaps nobody has heard of him, but I have. His company designed some nice cars. And there's a grammatical error in the obit: tsk, tsk.

    Seen Any Good Films Lately?

Last night I was in a sneak preview of "Son of Rambow". An excellent film which features both Eric Sykes and Anna Wing. Both playing geriatrics, Sykes had a few lines, Wing didn't. All dubbed into German of course, they don't hold with subtitles here. Anyway, I daresay it was released in Britain ages ago, but it's a bloody good laugh and well worth a look.
