Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries, Etc...
Tuber Mirum replied to football_fan's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Did I mention that Amanda had a baby girl at Christmas? Probably not, I'm still upset she didn't call it Pickles like I suggested. Anyway, she looks lovely. -
When did you sent it? Gor blimey Guvnor, now you are arsking. I sented it on New Year's eve about half an hour before midnight, CET, forgetting that that actually gave me another hour after midnight to devote some proper thought to the team. Hence a combination of theme team "Germans and other (alleged) Nazis" rounded up to 20 with a couple of likely looking stopgaps.

I don't see my ill-considered bunch of last-minute decisions up there either. I think I called them The Notapotatoe's.

I'd put my money on some time this evening, asssuming Bellender gets the finger out, sterling fellow that he is. edit: It's up now more or less. I haven't worked out the points yet for the recent departed but it looks as though Ten STiff Bowling is in the lead at the moment. Can everyone please check their team in case I've missed any unique picks (the orange dots next to the names; potatoes actually)? /edit

That's exactly what I was thinking. Great Minds Think Alike and all that. Mind you, it's a pretty stupid idea.

I'm the second result in Google's image search. In Germany anyway. Not a recent picture and insiders will know that I have no trousers on.

I don't watch much British telly, choosing as I do to live abroad and in any case being an eschewer of the tube in general as a contemptible fomenter of stupidity in young and old alike. Nevertheless I do enjoy watching QI on Youtube once in a while. Today I was diverted to a production entitled "Never Mind the Buzzcocks", also not without a certain charm, but in this case particularly distinguished through the involvement of the comedienne Josie Long. Lovely is the only word, yet still too little.

Hmm... I love little riddles like that. Thank you for the idea! Hihi

Don't forget to enter the 2011 Hartlepool Deadlypool! Closing date is New Year's Eve at midnight. Interestingly enough, I was just checking a couple of things and noticed that I'd forgotten to give Ten Stiff Bowling the bonus for Ronnie James Dio having died on my birthday. This catapults them into the lead with only two days to go.

The Deathlist Christmas Special!
Tuber Mirum replied to Lady Die's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
It is a simple substitution cypher which may yield a moment's diversion to those lacking anything else to do. I shan't spoil the fun (nor insult the reader's intelligence) by providing the solution, but suffice it to say that the author wishes merry Christmas to his friends and to a sick old man who spent years in Barlinnie for a crime which he likely didn't commit, death. -
The Deathlist Christmas Special!

Merry Christmas to everyone! And to those of you who are on holiday during the Festive Season, happy holidays. -
That's not how one spells forty-two.

Wasn't there some morris dancing in one of his movies? Probably. If anyone can find any I'll gladly update the scores again. Particularly since it might save me the embarrassment of winning my own deadpool. Nice Tits is the one to watch out for. If Dolores Hope, Ronnie Biggs, or Nancy Reagan goes this year then they're home and dry.
-
Incidentally, that old bugger Norman Wisdom was a Pantomime-acting, Celebrity Squares-appearing drummer. So there will be some reasonably big bonuses for those who chose him, when I get around to updating the scoreboard. Which is at the moment actually. I couldn't find any evidence of him having done any Morris Dancing.
-
I'll be updating the scoreboard for 2010 in the next couple of days. The HDP 2011 will be redesigned to save me from the masses of work I've done in previous years on a site which nobody ever looks at. I'll be putting some thought into it soon. The rules will stay the same as in 2010 and though the scoring system may change slightly to make calculating scores easier for me, it won't be so that entrants'll have to consider their picks differently. Here's the entry form. It may appear familiar to some: Entry Form

I don't really think there's much wrong with posting a death in the appropriate thread and in the The Dead thread. Having all the deaths together in one thread makes research much easier, particularly when the order of death is significant as in the HDP. It's the dickheads who start a new thread for every death who need a good kicking, that's all.

No, you're not. I have serious doubts as well. Too much circumstantial evidence in my view. I only ask because the general consensus seems to be that he is an evil bastard who deserves to die, so I was wondering if he'd actually done anything to deserve such opprobrium, apart from just being a Lybian obviously.

Paddy Roy Bates hasn't actually lived on Sealand for quite a bit. He retired to Spain a few years ago leaving Roughs Tower in the hands of caretakers.

And in the road. A rough pile of snow round our way in the road way was a mound about 1m high and 2m in diameter. It really would make a mess of your front bumper on a dark night. Wouldn't a metre-high mound of snow be highly visible, even on a dark night?

Am I alone in my strong suspicion that Megrahi is, if not actually entirely innocent, very likely not responsible for the Lockerbie bombing?
-
I did ask Bellender to get on to that a month or two back. I'll see that he does it soon. As regards your dead in 2009 picks, we found a solution for Canadian Paul's dead Dutch golfer and I believe I intended to apply the same to your team. I don't remember, at the time, being entirely convinced that Hewlett was really dead. Is there any conclusive evidence? A body or somesuch?

German opera star Peter Hofmann is dead. It's in the Bild Zeitung so it must be true.

Well done to everyone who came. Particularly to the lovely Six who deserves a medal for her bravery and to Ali for his tireless organisation of the whole thing. It was nice to meet Time for the first time and to see Rotten Ali and Mary again. Much was discussed and moderate amounts of beer were consumed. Sadly I didn't take notes so I won't be winning any deadpools next year either. Thank you ladies and gentlemen for an excellent time in stimulating company. Perhaps next year more people will be able to attend.
