Great idea for a thread! I would spell "summarise" like that, personally. -
Quite. He could have been a member of the Nazi Party, have saved Jewish children from death at the hands of other, bad Nazis, and also still have been Hitler's boxer (whatever that means anyway). Perhaps he collected milk-bottle tops too. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. Everyone is different. Those who lived in such difficult times, and particularly the great cannot easily be compartmentalised.

Lifelong bachelor, I see. -
Witty, pithy and to the point. She'll make a fine wee wife for somebody one day.

Speculation about whether Schmeling was a Nazi or not, must remain just that- speculation. Only he himself knew for sure what he was, and since he is dead, we can't ask him. Unless he told someone, but they could be lying too. Since the Deathlist is all about speculation (it's what we do best) we wouldn't be doing our job if we weren't speculating about Schmeling. Pete Doherty, or anyone else. We just have to beware of coming to any conclusions based only on speculative evidence. The flood of rants from angry Germans which we can now expect, will also contain no more factual evidence one way or the other than we can provide ourselves. So enjoy.....

This is true, I have just checked in the German news. Has there been a British Obit yet? /edit The BBC sport page has it on the latest news ticker.

Strangely enough, I remember that nude balloon dance on the Tube or some such early 80's program.

This link Contains the following interesting quote from Max Carlish:
-
Reminds me a bit of Moshammer's death but this chap was obviously safety conscious enough to have a cordless phone.

Unless of course she has your life heavily insured.

You know, it gets me down when I spend 20 minutes in the middle of the night trying to create a coherent, articulate post and then Mr. Teddy comes along and says the whole thing in a nutshell in only 7 words (3 of which consist of 2 letters or less).

Ephraim Kishon Israeli Satirist. Best known in the German-speaking world has apparently upped and died.

Sometimes people do forget that there is a positive side to nationalism and patriotism. True we should be proud of our culture (did I just write that?) and our nationality, but our man here seems firmly of the opinion that that which is not British is anti-British and resolved to destroy all which is British. There are strong arguments for not letting too many foreigners into a country, particularly if as is often the case, if they don't integrate. There is, however a big difference between saying they shouldn't really be there, and viewing them as a threat or even an inconvenience. Mr O'Shea uses strong points to support a flawed argument, and then points out weaknesses in our arguments to distract from his own. A thing which he accuses us of himself and a technique which was perfected by a certain Mr Goebbels (born not a mile from where I am sitting). Naivite and paranoia are two extremes (though not necessarily opposites as Mr O'Shea would have us believe). It is entirely possible, and indeed desirable to be neither one nor the other. "Freedom" and "Islamic Ideology" are also not opposites as he is attempting to imply. Love your neighbour- one of the principal Tenets of Deathlistism, Christianity and Islam. Whatever your belief, there are worse rules to live your life by. Take a break, accept that there are positive aspects of non-Christian cultures, and that many moslems feel justifiably threatened by those who would impose "democracy and freedom" upon them. that's all. PS: Haven't we seen "nievity" spelt that way somewhere before?

Sorry for that Typhoid, Present company excepted. Just showing some lighthearted intolerance of "different US spelling rules.

Nowhere obviously. He writes as though Kilroy-Silk were the new Enoch Powell. i.e. a strong patriot, highly intelligent and nationalistic to a fault. And that seemingly extinct breed, a competent professional politician. In fact Kilroy-Silk is simply an egotist who fuels his popularity with the prejudices of the stupid. If British society is in a bad way, it's because of the kind of insular-thinking idiots who support Silk and his simplified, one-dimensional pseudo-nationalistic drivel. I don't think anyone should be allowed political convictions until they've learned to spell. (That cuts out all Americans for a kick-off! )

Certainly a candidate for conversion to Deathlistism, but Amanda's first posting was certainly quite abusive. Her remark: prompts one to remind her that one usually gets more respect when one doesn't come in arse-first like she did. I hope she joins us. PS: Note the correct spelling of "arse". She is obviously British, or perhaps Canadian or something else civilised.

Yes you are! Are, are, are, are, are! I don't think Anubis or anyone else on the DeathList expects everyone to agree with him, though we are for the most part like-minded individuals and generally agree with one another. Or at least keep an open mind. You may be confusing us with US politicians. That's a foul accusation to make against Mr Jackal who is one of the more considerate, literate and humorous contributors to this list. I'm sure if he has caused offence, he didn't mean to. It takes all sorts to make a world, it's always been that way and you might find you live longer and happier (if that's what you want) when you just accept that there are people who do and say things you don't agree with. Anyone in the public eye is liable to speculation about all aspects of their lives. We know you don't understand or like us. I probably don't only speak for myself when I say I'm not that keen on you. I'm sure there are other web sites where you will find more sympathetic company. Goodbye

It gets busy down there on pension day, doesn't it?

Ali Fadel, mayor of Baghdad appears keen on landing underground. I think if I were foolish enough to go around saying I wanted to put up a statue of Mr Bush here, in a provincial Western German town, I could expect at the very least a severe beating-up. Doing it in Baghdad when you are the Mayor there is asking to be fondly remembered as a short-lived idiot.

Innocent until proven guilty, old thing.

Mr Honez is a highly literate individual. (Allegedly)

Yet another reason, (as if we needed one) why McDonalds is bad for you. I suppose it's only the ones in makeup, long shoes and big wide trousers driving around in their Alfa Romeos who scare many people. Norman Wisdom could be described as "clownish" but nobody is scared of him, or thinks he's the Epitome of Evil. (I know you'll all be quick to correct me if I'm mistaken) Many clowns are dwaves too, which is also a fairly common phobia, I think. Cant say either bothers me particularly, though I think clowns are fairly crap, generally.

On the other hand, no amount of fighting spirit can protect him from the inevitable. It comes to us all.
