So Frankie Boyle's TV career could be on the 2011 list then...

    Death Anniversary Thread

I was working in local radio at the time, and I think "Fairytale of New York" was played on every single show for about the next week! Mind you, great song...

    Aretha Franklin

She claims that she's now recovering, but she's admitted that she's now incontinent: http://www.mercurynews.com/breaking-news/c...?nclick_check=1 Quote: "I feel great," Franklin, 68, told JET. "The doctors say I can do whatever I feel I am up to do. Of course, that doesn't mean any concerts or anything like that. But I can do things around the house, and today I am just piddling around the house."

    The Dead Of 2010

John Leslie (the porn star, not the Blue Peter presenter turned, erm, home movie porn star) has gone stiff... http://business.avn.com/articles/Industry-...ack-418821.html

And it was seconds out for Big Daddy (whom I've already mentioned elsewhere in the last 24 hours...) on this day in 1997

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis

After reading lastorders post, I had a look at who I share a birthday with Does anybody remember the tv show Blossom ?. I share a birthday with Jenna Von Oy who played Blossoms mate Six. We were both born on 2nd May 1977 Other people include former WWE wrestlers The Rock and The Big Boss Man, loads of football players including Chris Kirkland, David Nugent, Zat Knight and Horacio Carbonari, Donatella Versace, actor David Suchet who played Poirot, gardener Alan Titchmarsh, snooker players Jimmy White and Steve James, cricketer Brian Lara and Mick Jaggers ex Bianca Jagger My turn! I was born on the same day as Nick "I've Had Jessica Simpson" Lachey - November 9, 1973. Although he does look annoyingly younger than me. Other famous November 9th birthdays include Delta Goodrem, the wrestler Chris Jericho, Bryn Terfel, Pepa off of Salt n Pepa, Jill Dando, Tony Slattery, Lou "The Hulk" Ferrigno and King Edward VII. Oh, and Spiro Agnew. And lots of people on Wikipedia that I haven't heard of.
  7. Hmmm...least impressive...back in the 80s I met the bloke who stood in for Dick Joice on the Anglia TV programme "Bygones" when Mr Joice was ill. (His name's John Huntley and he has a film and theatre archive...) Slightly more impressive was that when I was a kid, my Dad took me to wrestling matches, meaning I got to meet some of the big names of the day ("Tally Ho" Kaye, Steve Grey, "Iron Fist" Clive Myers, Cyanide Syd Cooper, and the biggest star of all, Big Daddy) On one occasion I was one of a group of children who stood outside Big Daddy's dressing room after his match, chanting "We want Daddy!" After a couple of minutes the great man emerged (I am still haunted by this image), naked save for a small flannel which he clutched to his nether regions, and told us that he'd be out when he'd finished his shower. Impressive or not, it certainly made an impression on me. But not as big as the impression Big Daddy made on Mad Mal Kirk.

    DL's Video Vault

Ouch. One of the greatest songs of all time, slaughtered. This really does not do justice to the the great music of the Scissor Sisters...

    Humanity Itself

My money's on pretty conclusive evidence of arsenic-based organic molecules on one the moons of Saturn. Thus proving organic nonterresrtrial life exists and doesn't necessarily take the form we'd expected previously. I'm happy to be proven wrong, as whatever it is, it's going to be interesting. Like I said though; moons of Saturn I suppose that would be exotic enough in it's own little way. Perhaps I should have reigned in my expectations a little more. I was hoping for something a a wee bit more exciting... Did someone just sneeze on the screen?

Britney Spears, Kerry Katona, Heather Locklear et al.

Not one of the four listed in the toipc title, but a useless daft bimbo nonetheless (and one who thinks people actually want to know every sordid detail of her sorry life, hence the ubiquitous ITV2 documentaries and almost constant "celeb" magazine front page-hogging), Katie Price has been banned from driving after being caught speeding. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-11884839 Her excuse for the fast driving - she was being chased by the paparazzi. Makes you think, doesn't it...

    Scientists, Inventors And Techno Wizards

The legendary Professor Heinz Wolff is now 82, although recent photos show him looking not much older than he did in his Great Egg Race days. So not really a contender for a year or two yet (even though The Sun erroneously published his obit a few years back...)

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2011

Ah, but would you get an obit in a UK news source? regards, Hein If he will be killed by a famous person like Harry Pearce... OF COURSE I was once described as "one of Essex's biggest names in broadcasting." Unfortunately that was an error on the part of our local paper, published just before I did two one month stints on a local radio station having never broadcast before. So my only chance of a national media obit would be to help some of these celebs on their way before topping myself, thus making me infamous. But that would be against the DDP rules. And one of the Ten Commandments. So I won't.

Peter Falk Is Suffering From Alzheimer's Disease

A client (who suffers from Alzheimers) popped in our office last week and remarked on the size of our secretary's chest - "Wow, you've got big boobs, haven't you?" (for which his wife had to apologise on his behalf). The good thing about Alzheimers is that you can get away with that sort of thing. The bad thing is that 5 minutes later you'll have forgotten.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2011

Apparently Ayatollah Khameini has terminal leukemia and is "expected to die in months." According to a wicked, leaky site anyway. I'd post a link but I don't want Harry Pearce sending his spooks to neutralise me... ...although I could then nominate myself for the 2011 list...

    The Dead Of 2010

Mission Oveur! Better than any puns on the word "Graves" that I've spent the last hour trying to think of... Another notch on my DDP stick of mortality though!

    Michael Foot

Well, at long last. My first point in Wormfood Bingo for this year, and my first ever hit in the DDP! RIP Mr Foot - may you and your donkey jacket rest in peace.

    The Dead Of 2010

That's sad. I didn't think he'd ever die! He's like Clive Dunn - always been old and, therefore, must be immortal. Actually, he was younger than Dick Van Dyke, who played his son in Chitty Chitty Band Bang. He was only 41-42 for that role, which I suppose is some indication of his talent that he could successfully pull it off. Enjoy him again . Very annoyed - he was in my first draft DDP list for 2010 which I misplaced and had to recreate from memory. I failed, as I forgot to include him. Also forgot to include someone who looks a bit like him - Warren Mitchell. Hope he survives till 2011 then...
