    Room 101

Obviously Whilst we are on the subject, there are a few sporting clichés I'd like to toss into Room 101. Both teams deserved to win. Well why don't we just do away with all forms of competative sport and watch Janet Street Porter rambling through the countryside instead. I'm sure that'll earn sky sports and ladbrokes obscene amounts of money. Its a game of two halves Well if it had three halves it would defy the laws of mathematics. Which leads me on to... He gave it one hundred and ten percent See above. You got your Real Madrids, Your Manchester Uniteds, Your Bayern Munchens, Your AC Milans Blimey that why we hardly ever qualified for Europe - there was only one of us! One of the best managers we've had in a long time (and we've had a few) knew how to field a few of those stupid questions. http://media.putfile.com/Soccer-AM---Gordon-Strachan

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

I've thought for hours once before, about how Adolf Hitler could with stand such stiff hate, and be so cold hearted. And never feel one drop of guilt in his empty conscience. His pathetic inner self, and hopelessness made him who he was. It was revenge. It was payback time. Not any conscious walking human being could suffer more then him. He believed this and within this man he held no mercy. For what ever his downfall could have been, he wanted the reflection shined on every living creature. The wish for all to suffer deeply in your heart is the face of true evil. And when Berlin was captured, the mad man Hitler came out more and more, demanding suicides of his own soldiers, and harsh direction to top SS commanders. Hitler failed, but for the second time. The first failure which led to his fallen glory may never be revealed, in the second he took a revolver to his head. I believe Adolf Hitler died long before 1945. What long lived in him was not of his own. I don't know if this is the place for it, but it's my two cents. And here's mine...

    Too Many Moderators ?

I think it's very admirable that they are offering their services. By all accounts it seems a pretty thankless time consuming job cleaning up after all the links to spam porn (there could well be a niche market there, pictures of spam in the nude and so forth). I for one don't understand why some people are hankering over a job that will require you to endlessly tidy up and move things around. Could someone explain what the fuss is about over entering into modship, or is it just the youngsters who missed out on being milk monitor going me! me! me! Good on you, though by bringing more order to the site by cleaning up the diatribe and porn would in fact defy the second law of thermodynamics would it not, thereby decreasing the power of Entropy's mod status

    Fascinating Creatures - Squids

Play squid hunter I don't see what the fuss is all about re Giant squid - clearly they are far more easier to hunt then the little pesky buggars. I only managed a measely level 3, 125 points on first go - off to try and better my squid hunting abilities! Edited - Now 141 but still level 3! Edited - Now 176 but still level 3! and after 20 minutes hard core squid action it is time methinks to get a life. Have a good friday night!

    Football

Your football (cue someone to rant about the use of the word "foot" in American football) could well qualify for the squid thread, but only next sunday. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/ramblings...2476&cat=11 Which reminds me - anyone got any good pranks I could tea leaf. I'm in need of a bit of "vengence"!

    The Dead - 2007

It must be the same person who convinced my friend that Angela Lansbury was a haemaphrodite. I don't quite believe it..but once a seed of doubt is planted you never can be sure of what is truth and what is fiction. Other celebrity suspects include Jamie Lee Curtis. I am sure there are more...

Thankfully now ousted, no more rugger bugger and jolly hockeysticks public school management for us I hope - can't believe it took them that long to find the source of the problem. Though to be fair the managers pre 96 are not Lowe's fault.

Makes you wonder about all these sculptures pre-photo days of eminent scientists, politicians and traffic cones on riders on horses and so forth... Apparently part of the trouble was the sculptor had been working from photographs and not a 3D model seeing as Mr Southampton past on in 2003, (hence the tribute). It's not the first time we've been disappointed with who we've hired to do a job Alan Ball (1994-1995) Dave Merrington (1995-1996) Graeme Souness (1996-1997) Dave Jones (1997-2000)* Glenn Hoddle (2000-2001) Stuart Gray (2001) Gordon Strachan (2001-2004)* Paul Sturrock (2004) Steve Wigley (2004) Harry Redknapp (2004-2005) George Burley (2005-present) *Due to a computing error these managers were allowed to remain in post for more than the statutory limit of +/- 1 year. To put this in terms of leadership we have to go back to 1951 for Winston Churchill's second term in office to count 11 prime ministers and 1714 to king George I to count 11 monarchs! More realistically in terms of football managers, counting back 11 managers for Chelsea takes me to 1981, 1947 for Arsenal and 1931 for Man Utd. Probably Accrington Stanley have had less managers than the Saints over the last 15 years! (Relying heavily on google here so if I am wrong shoot the internet)

    The Deathlist Howto

I like this logo - it has a fifties feel to it. The T-shirt probably does exist in some grubby Camden establishment. However I doubt anyone would want to volunteer to go into the lions den unless they had a long manky stick to beat the hoards of grumpy angst riddled teenagers out the way.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007

I posted a version of this with subtitles, then again someone could have made the subtitles up. Any of the Dutch posters know if they are correct? Sorry Mono I must have missed it first time around. It cracks me up every time I watch it No problem - the more its posted the more I watch it - I don't know any Dutch (apart from a few rude words) but I think that makes it funnier. I try and spot to see if anyone in the audience giggles too!

    The Dead - 2007

Alphonsin, your post was moved to the cricket thread. Chill out, everything will be OK I have some sympathy with Alphonsin here. For the shock death of one of England's foremost openers to be relegated to a thread under the "extra-curricular" heading is surely a little strange! Correct me if I'm wrong (it won't be the first time!) but I thought the threads in that section all related to stuff which was indeed "extra-curricular", i.e. not directly death related (such as discussing who supports the crappiest football team, what you had for breakfast, etc.) Exactly. Are we to then have an extra-curricular 'film stars' thread, or other threads for politicians, or one solely dedicated to left-handed female Polynesian skydivers? My understanding was that 'The Dead' thread was for the reporting of departures of all persuasions, and is the obvious place to go for information on recent deaths. This alteration makes no sense at all, and having to second-guess where any such news might be found hardly makes using the forum easier. Reinstate Bob Woolmer now, and all who follow him into the last pavilion! It does get slightly confusing when there are so many other threads for reporting deaths. How about if a death gets moved to another thread that a link is left in "The Dead" thread ? What would happen if it was a former cricketer who then formed a band (as their drummer) and then commited suicide. Which thread would we report their death in? Suicidal celebs? dead drummers? or the cricket thread? Could there be two "dead" threads - one for the famous celebrities and one for the non-celebrities sort of the A-list and the Z-list as I find this thread does sometimes has one too many left handed polynesian skydivers who are of the female persuasian. I believe before there was a not so famous thread?

Brian Harvey - E17 to 6 Feet Under?

Well hopefully the song chosen is, as usual, suitably dire so that we have no chance of actually winning. I heard on several occasions that the economically dominant countries like Germany, UK et al. never want to win due to the immense cost of hosting the event (even though they plough money into it already, meaning we don't have to go through the qualifying stages). Can anyone shed light on this rumour? Does the Eurovision nearly bankrupt countries like the Ukraine and Latvia, who I doubt have a 5 figure per capita GDP? I know in the 60s and 70s the BBC were often the fall guys when other countries declined the chance to host due to expense so do we now just avoid entering anyone who has more chance of winning than a lame three legged horse winning the Grand National? Sorry to go horribly off topic. I'm just curious.

Cricket Thread. Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen

Unfortunately I had to go out this evening when it was about 100-4 in the NZ innings; I figured England would lose because we'd have to get New Zealand all out, but I at least expected to find out we'd got a few more wickets after such a promising start with the bowling; perhaps even made a game of it? I forgot that other countries aren't contractually obliged to provide either a middle order or tail end collapse though... Nixon and Plunkett would never get those sort of scores if they had a decent total to build on. I went out for a fag break today at work with the England score at 130-3, apparently the same time that England took a cricket break. Does this imply that you have some special smoking powers? Were you perchance smoking continuously from around the 23 Nov 06 until lets say the 05 Jan 07? Did your ash impede our Ashes? If I had the know how and the patience I'd photoshop the next goverment health warnings: "Caution smoking causes embarassing cricket whitewash" "Smoking can cause a slow and painful defeat" " Smoking seriously Harmison...... oh is that the tumbleweed - I'll get my coat.
