    Jacques Brel's Imitation Jelly Jewellery

Thanks for that Captain. I enjoyed that more than is probably healthy. I couldn't help noticing on my 6th or 7th viewing that at 1:16 he appears to do something like this. Don't forget to mention the eyes closed smile with showbiz hands swiftly after. Now that's what I call talent.

    Jacques Brel's Imitation Jelly Jewellery

I once read the entire Richard O'Sullivan thread in one afternoon to see what the fuss was all about. The fact that I not only still live, but willingly visit this site, means I think I'll be able to take it. Phew, that's a relief! So what are you listening to? Me I have someone wittering at me on Skype. I think it's my father ;-)

You are tempting fate there - someone will start the thread just to spite you. Probably on a day when you are really pressed for time but yet being a sucker for distractions flick through tens of pages in disbelief before being driven to desperation and becoming the first DLer to cark it.

I can't believe none of the Graves opted for Or , another French classic of 2006 Au moins Yannick Noah. Glad to see you are not fully embracing the French music scene.

Perhaps they could target the Patrick Moore thread instead?

    Fascinating Creatures - Squids

A squid lament, apparently. The squid has issues with squid beak too. Meanwhile some important dates for your diary: Forget the inferior jazz festival, why not try... What? Anubis are you telling me Santa no longer lives in lapland. I feel cheated and deceived if this is so.

Is this the physicists equivalent of ligging? In case you have forgotten the definition of this popular '90s term! I also have a question to pop to you, probably more semantics than anything. If one is almost entirely paralyzed how exactly does one go about feeling weightlessness or has this factor been overlooked?

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

    Jesus - The Tombinator

I am kind of worried that that is a scanned in photo, personally signed and cherished all these years! Did you also have a crush on Peggy? BTW I have a signed photo of Colin Baker in Dr Who costume and also Lofty from Eastenders. Fortunately Unfortunately I don't know what I have done with them! Anyone else got any embarassing autographs from their childhood?

    Jesus - The Tombinator

It don't matter to Jesus! Jesus wasn't his proper name anyway - that's what the Greeks called him.. Unless they can find someone alive or the remains of someone who is proven to be related to "Jesus" I don't understand how they can claim that they have the actual remains. Even with DNA all they'll be able to prove is that people who the remains in the tomb belong to were related to each other. They obviously took a sample from the Turin shroud

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007

What I have noticed is they never seem to add up to 100%. I wonder what the additional 5 % is. I'd like to hope it is all those actors from programmmes like Sunset Beach (?) trying to put on phoney British accents ;-)

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007

One mainly for our American friends I had a go, turns out I speak 20% yank, 15% Dixie, 5% Midwestern ans 5% Uppermidwestern and the rest, well thats 50% General American English. Unfortunately once you get passed a certain number of questions you just can't use proper British English and seeing as I have never even heard of toilet papering a house nor kitty corners I came a bit unstuck! However at least I know now that the devil drinks Stella ;-)

Interesting that link appeared in a connected type of thread, has spam gone intelligent? I think so as I have made the casual observation that lots of spam seems to appear after this post in the Jimmy Carter thread...

    Sir Patrick Moore

Patrick Moore is Belgian you heard it here first! To be precise he is a Limburger A traditional soft cheese, originating in Belgium. Limburger has a red/brown rind with corrugated edges, and a creamy yellowish body. It tastes almost meaty, and has a legendary aroma due to enzymes breaking down proteins on the surface of the cheese.

Things To Do While Waiting For Death... 2007

Fantastic - surely we should be posting a gem like this in the Patrick Moore thread. Highly scientifc. In case you are wondering I am Mascarpone. A soft white cream cheese with a mild taste. Though I guess I am confused asapparently it is not actually a cheese at all, being the result of a culture being added to the cream skimmed off the milk used when making Parmesan, and as such, it is suitable for vegetarians! My alterego, Monoclinic, however is the less confused dolcelatte.

How about the Mods keep their hands off pointless, shitty threads like this and actually Moderate the threads that matter, like the Patrick Moore thread, for example? This thread should be kept WIDE open for you all to play in. The more threads we keep open in the Extra-Curricular forum, the better; it means there's slightly less chance you'll all be f*****g around in the threads that count. Or is that too much to hope for? No offence intended to anyone in particular, of course. Oh, ok then, offence intended. And shut up, Windsor, before you pipe up... Hi Star Crossed! Long time no post! Keep it open so future newbies will understand what the argument is about as I am rapidly gathering previous discussions seem to resurface on a regular basis. If it is deleted the offending parties will be able to cover their tracks so to speak. BTW I am too new to understand all the ins and outs and will keep my opinions to myself and not pass judgement one way or t'other, so please, no-one take offence! Now off to the Patrick Moore thread to discuss the weather...

    Fascinating Creatures - Squids

Le squid Cheers Dave, eventually found the film, quite good, award winning in fact. My trouble was in French they totally detracted from the Sperm Whale and Giant Squid Clash of the Titans and called it, Les Berkman se séparent (The Berkmans are separating). Have the French no originality. Discuss.

Whom Are You Tarring With The Epithet "twunt"?

Nice one MPFC - made me laugh out loud. Particularly when I scrolled down to satisfy my curiosity about a Blumpkin Backfire (10,000 posts perhaps) Did you scroll far enough to educate yourself about the blumpkin vagina platypus? There's nowt so queer as folk as they say.

Swim the Amazon Aside from piranhas, anacondas and swimming in your own pee all day because of candirús (the ones that swim up the urethra then latch on with a spikey thing only removable by operation!) the poor chap has to wear a silly mask to prevent him looking like a Sun reader in the costas.

    The First 2007 Success Poll

Erm..not quite! The longest gap in Deathlist history was between 18th May 1990 (Jill Ireland) and 23rd March 1992 (Jim Joel). In the Modern era (I mean since the 50 per year rule was brought in), the longest gap was... 23/06/96 (Andreas Papandreou) to 19/02/97 (Deng Xiaoping) Interestingly, the 4 longest gaps have been between the last hit of one year and the first hit of another! Could a Statto confirm whether this was after Labour's introduction of winter fuel payments to the over 60's? What with the talk of cutting elderly households fuel bills, it could make a traditionally treachorous time of year less likely to yield hits for DL!

    Ideas and possibilities for 2008

Spike Milligan had "mental ill health" ever since a bomb went off right by him whilst serving in Italy in 1943. He died in 2002, 59 years later. So, it's going to need more than "mental ill health" to put Brian Wilson on any serious list. I guess there is always the suicide issue with certain mental health problems but Wilson seems to be a lot more productive of late and, touch wood, I doubt he is a contender.

I quite liked the story about her whacking a car. Pity Basil Fawlty did it better.
