The date of Cyril Fletcher's death would matter for those who selected his name for the Derby Death Pool. But it is now a *dead* issue, as everyone agrees that he died in 2005.

Ideas and Possibilities for 2006

I definitely agree with that. We need some clarification on this issue. GR, can someone on deathrow be included in the deathlist? -

He managed to read his speech all by himself during the midnight Christmas Mass at St Peter's Basilica. That has been a first in a very long time, as he usually reads the first 2 sentences and has his assistants take over. Despite that, he looked very frail like he was almost ready to fall over. I'd be very surprised if he makes it to next Christmas.

Iyad Allawi is a walking human target. Yesterday suicide bombers targeted his Baghdad office. It will be interesting to see if he makes it through this year.

Ideas and Possibilities for 2006

I agree with that one. We need a near miss thread for 2005. So far we have had two notable deaths this year. Former Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm and science fiction illustrator Kelly Freas -
Kelly Freas, illustrator for science fiction magazines and fantasy books, including Mad Magazine died January 3rd, 2005. He was 82. Kelly Freas

Iraqi PM Iyad Allawi is still a possibility for 2005, even though he did not make it on the list. News is that his Baghdad offices were targeted today by suicide bombers. Lets see if he makes it through this year. Suicide bombing in Baghdad

Yeah, Sister Lucia passes the famous enough test, but only because of the publicity generated by her claim to be able to see the the vision of the Fatima. What's really interesting is that there are many people in her own Catholic church who see her as an imposter and an opportunist and are using various means to silence her. I found two interesting articles on her when I was searching the web Silencing of Sister Lucia Crime against the Catholic Church It does not really matter to me whether or not she is genuine or a fraud, as I am not a Catholic and don’t take end of the world prophecies seriously. The most relevant question though - Is she likely to die soon? At 98 and in frail health, there is a good chance that it will happen this year.

Congratulations Rude Kid and Notapotato for the first points with Cyril Fletcher. I am also counting on a strong performance from deathlist.net for 2005. Come on Ronnie Biggs.

It looks like it is just a case of pneumonia. He is only 37 and I have not seen any reports of him having any previous health problems, so there is a good chance he will bounce back.

Cyril Fletcher will be sadly missed. I was fortunate to hear some of his old recordings from BBC1's, "That's Life" the other day. He was quite a character!

Looks like he is not yet ready to die yet. His health is on the rebound. First Walk For Castro After Fall

I was also hoping for Margaret Thatcher’s name to be included in the 2005 list.

Multiple sclerosis has robbed Richard Pryor of his voice. Pryor Loses Voice His health is also deteriorating day by day. It look like 2005 may be the year of his demise.

Elizabeth Taylor is a very strong possibility for 2005. For the last couple of years, she has been in very poor health. In October last year she broke her back for the fifth time, smashing a bone in her lower back. Taylor Breaks Back for Fifth Time Now she is suffering from congestive heart failure and experiences fatigue, shortness of breath, fluid buildup and other symptoms. Recently she admitted to a magazine that she is not afraid to die, so it appears that she has lost the will to live. Liz Taylor Ailing

I totally agree with Notapotato. Please be patient and give the organizers a chance. They have done a superb job all year. Take a break and enjoy the holidays! Happy New Year everyone! -
I think Elizabeth Taylor is a strong possibility for 2005 though. She is in very poor health and is suffering from congestive heart failure. She does not look like she has very long to go. Elizabeth Taylor

B.B. King for 2005? ... I am not too sure, but then again it could be a possibility as he is approaching 80. I saw him perform earlier this year and he was full of energy. There is a blues club in the entertainment district in Memphis, Tennessee where he sometimes performs and I have included a picture of it below.

We finally got number 12. Good job guys and congratulations for the 2004 selections. I am hoping that 2005 list will be just as successful as this year's list. Best wishes for the new year when it arrives. ff

A nice way to round out the year, especially when it looked like we were not going to get number 12. Good job guys and congratulations for the 2004 selections. ff

James, I respectfully disagree with your opinion. What Africans want most of all is good government, economic opportunities, security and a just society. Robert Mugabe has failed on all four fronts. Regarding his health, I have not heard any recent news since his trip to South Africa last year. Anyone has an update?

Good choices, but I am not sure if Delores Hope passes the famous enough test.
