    General Pinochet

It has taken a while, but finally a Chilean judge has displayed some courage by indicting General Pinochet and putting him under house arrest for human rights abuses. He is now facing charges for the disappearance of nine opposition activists and the killing of one of them during his 17-year regime. I saw him on the news last night and he looked very frail, as he had to be helped along by two other people. It looks like he has dementia, as he did not appear to know where he was and had very little control of his movement. Despite this, it will be a good thing to see this thug stand trial for the sake of justice, even though he looks like he is not going to last much longer. Chilean judge charges Pinochet

    Dick Clark

Oh, no. What a shame it would be if Americans had their balls drop without any Dick there. Looks like Dick Clark will not be in Times Square, New York City to drop the ball on New Years Eve this year. They have decided to use talk show host "Regis Philbin" as a substitute. Viktor Yushchenko

He is certainly one to keep an eye on for 2005. Especially if he wins the re-scheduled elections.

    Lord Scarman

Well, we finally got number 11. For a while, I was not sure that it would happen. Despite that, England has lost a good man. May Lord Scarman rest in peace.

    Hamed Karzai

He is a walking target and is literally being kept alive by his US bodyguards 24/7. I would not be surprised if he does not make it through 2005.

I also did a thorough search. Despite that, I was not able to find a single reference to his death. I guess he is still alive and kicking at 103

    Prince Philip Duke Of Edinburgh

That’s what makes Prince Phillip so entertaining. To me he is the most comical member of the Royal Family and has given me so many chuckles over the years that I would be sad to see him go. Just thought I would share a list of his most famous quotes and gaffes below. My favorite one was when he was visiting a group of aboriginals in Australia in 2002 and asked one of them “Do you still throw spears at each other?” Prince Phillip's famous gaffes

    Nick Leeson

Many people trusted him and believed that he was God and could do no wrong. This allowed him to hide 600 million pounds in losses from his bosses by setting up error account 88888. He might not have let you down, but he did indeed let down thousands of fellow employees by causing them to lose their jobs when Barrings Bank went bankrupt. Only a genius could pull off a stunt like that!!

    Nelson Mandela

From what I have seen, he does not appear to be frail and has not yet withdrawn from public life. At 86, he is very active and still making numerous appearances for different causes. Nelson Mandela meets Tony Blair in London Nelson Mandela at fundraising event

    Viktor Yushchenko

It looks like an extreme case of an allergic reaction. I know quite a few people who are unable to eat seafood. Maybe he is allergic to sushi after all.

    Ronald Reagan

Ronald Regan did appear at times to be absent minded, but I hold a lot of respect for him for puting the policies in place that hastened the end of the cold war. He did have his faults, such as the Iran Contra Affair and the ill advised deployment of US troops to Lebanon, but I still consider him to be a great American president.
