    Benazir Bhutto

The reason I was so quick with the news was that I was actually doing some last minute fact checking before putting her down as my DDP JOKER! Somebody edited Wiki so fast it was ahead of all the well-known news sources - I thought someone had put her down as dead in error. DWB

Depending on which report you read - Bhutto Injured in Suicide Bomb Blast! DWB Edit: Dead it would seem.

We now have six and can start a season - if anyone else wants to join in, it's not too late, just drop me a PM or reply to this. Those who are already involved, I suggest you arrange a couple of friendlies between us to get the feel of what goes on, then, next week, I will kick off the season. If you have any questions, there is a forum on the league. Cheers all. DWB

What a shame! We have five of us signed up so far, so we still need at least one more to get the ball rolling. The game is easy to play, doesn't take up much of your time and is completely free - and quite addictive if you get into it. If we do start with only 6 or 7 teams, the season wont take too long to complete so, Grobler, if you have a change of mind in the new year, you are more than welcome to join us for season 2. DWB

OK, I'm in . I'm much better at death than I am at football when it comes to leagues though. Good man! Anyone else? DWB

Death League Just bumping this one up again. We have 4 takers so far, 2 more have shown interest, which would get us underway, but more is most definitely merrier. Get in touch if you fancy a go. DWB

OK, it would seem that 6 teams gets the league underway, so anticipating enough interest, I have created a new league - I now have to get 5 more of you signed up within 3 weeks to get it underway. I have clicked a privacy option which will hide your real name and only show your log-in, in case you have an issue with that. Drop me a PM and I will send you back an invitation to join. Then, sign up and get ready for the blow off. DWB

I don't mind, as long as it involves relatively minimal maintenance on my part to manage this team, as time is not one thing I have an awful lot of in 2008. If I do play, it will, of course, be in the same tactical mould as my two managerial heroes - Stevie Coppell & Admiral Ackbar. Therefore, Expect a downbeat "It's a Trap!" to be my main cry from the dugout. Minimal maintenance it is - it can take as little as ten minutes a week to sort a team and tactics out - so I can count you in then? That will make four - half way there already! DWB

    Arthur C Clarke

Why would it be prophetic? It was 2001: A Space Odyssey. It was the first sequel - the full series is: 1. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) 2. 2010: Odyssey Two (1982) 3. 2061: Odyssey Three (1985) 4. 3001: The Final Odyssey (1996) DWB Edit: If he makes it to 2061 I'll buy a hat and eat it.

    New Here and saying Hi.

Oh dear, this has all got a bit out of hand. All I was going to say was it wasn't a horn - more a tuba or something, and now it's all descended into whistle blowing and the like. DWB

    The Hoff Is Off

Has David Hasselhoff been mentioned in despatches? A recovering alcoholic who fell off the wagon recently. Plenty of emergency visits to the hospital as well. Poor old David. DWB

Now, what kind of, erm, instrument would that be then? Avoiding the "A brass one" type glib reply of course. DWB

What a good night that was - and I didn't even have a hangover next day! Well done to everyone who made the journey and lovely to meet you all. DWB ps AtJ - yours was a very small one, easily misplaced.

    The Dead - 2007

The really sad bit, other than him dying, is whenever I hear his name mentioned I think of him singing "Jingle Bells" in Bart Simpson's treehouse - the pinnacle of his career? Which then reminds me of Krusty the Clown singing 'herpes' to Shirley Ellis' Name Game song. DWB

    Ideas and possibilities for 2008

Actress Joely Richardson has been reported as "emaciated" by some papers recently - and you can always rely on the Daily Mail to dramatise it. Posted here for information rather than a chance I think. DWB

    The Trumptonshire Trilogy

I went to school with a girl called Philippa who's father's name was Phillip. I always thought that was a bit odd. Incidentally, this topic made me think of Sir Prancelot. Is this programme remembered as fondly in parts Northern? I had the wallpaper. I just thought of it as Captain Pugwash with armour. I think we have come full circle with this one - the website says it is another Bura and Hardwick film. DWB

    Colin McRae

Foot and Mouth discovered in Scotland . . . . . . still no sign of the rest of Colin McRae. DON'T shoot the messenger - this joke is freely available in work environments nationwide. DWB
