    Muhammad Ali

I'm not sure if this has been reported on the forum (I'm sure somebody will tell me if it has): http://15rounds.com/press/2005/10/102805.php/ I reproduce the article below, as links tend to go dead rather quickly sometimes. Ali Losing Battle With Parkinson's By John Raygoza Former world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali is losing his battle with Parkinson's disease, according to daughter Laila Ali. Ali, 63, was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1983, four years after his loss to Trevor Berbick. Laila revealed to the L.A. Times that her father's condition has worsen. "I feel like the disease is progressing," Laila said. "Different things start happening as you get older. I have noticed a change in him, something that goes along with the Parkinson's. It's painful for me because I would love to sit down and talk to my dad about the way he used to be when he was my age, when he was in his prime because we are so much alike. I can't really do that. I can't share a lot of things with him." "We don't talk about boxing," she said. "He might come to a fight and say, "You're bad.' But he was never one to talk much boxing with us. That was not him. And he doesn't talk much these days anyway. It takes him too much energy to talk. He has good days and bad days. He's taking a lot of different medications. Sometimes his speech is so slurred you can't hardly understand him. But he definitely knows what's going on. That's for sure. He sees everything." Earlier this year, Muhammad Ali purchased a $2 million home in Paradise Valley, Arizona, 10 minutes outside of Phoenix. DWB

    Brian Kidd

Another ex-footballer suffering from the big C is Brian Kidd - just like Denis Law. Also like Denis, Brian has had a recent op. to sort it out. Time will tell! http://www.foxsportsworld.com/content/view?contentId=2370646 DWB
  3. This thread is just a bit of fun really. I thought it would be interesting to see a list of the various words and phrases that can be used to describe the state of some of our subjects. This forum is multi-national, so I expect to see some common and some not-so-common ones. Some examples might be: Pushing up the daisies Carked it Pegged out Feeling a bit Tom and Dick etc. etc. You could always use Monty Python's "Parrot Sketch" as a start point! Just think, if we get plenty of suggestions, this thread could become an invaluable tool for members who want to use the perfect phrase in their next post! DWB

    Rabbi Philip Berg

The leader of the Jewish faith followed by Madonna, Britney Spears, Roseanne Barr and Demi Moore has had a stroke which has put him in a wheelchair, is getting weaker by the day and is being reported and close to death. Would be interesting to see if fellow DLers think he passes the Famousness Test. DWB

I came across a list of people supporting cancer charities, and she was on it. It turns out she has battled bowel cancer in the past. Alas, no news on whether she still battles on though. DWB

    Roy Hudd

I firmly believe that this story has been reported on the forum, but can't actually find any posts to that effect. The search gave me plenty of options, none of which I have trawled through. Therefore, if this is old news, please delete away. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/tm_objec...-name_page.html DWB

The Olsen Twins & Christina Ricci

One of the Olsen twins is in hospital - suffering from Anorexia it is reported. I can't see it being a killer in the near future, but then again, it may not be Anorexia... http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/06/24/...l?oneclick=true DWB

    Victoria Gotti

OK folks, it's research time again. I read an article about Victoria Gotti, daughter of gangster boss John Gotti. She has had various ailments along the way, but is now claiming breast cancer - although she is a bit of a drama queen and this diagnosis has now been downgraded to pre-cancerous cells or something. Anyway, here is here Wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_Gotti However, the question is: "Is Victoria Gotti famous enough in her own right?" I understand she has (did have?) her own TV series in the States "Growing Up Gotti" but I haven't heard of it being shown in blighty (Sky perhaps?) So, do DL'ers think if her health did go critical, she qualify for the list? DWB

    The Trumptonshire Trilogy

I tried introducing my eldest son to the wonders of Chigley this morning, and it got me thinking about the 3 blokes who made it happen - Gordon Murray was the driving force with Bob Bura and John Hardwick, his stop-motion animators. News on Gordon Murray seems a little thin on the ground, other than the articles about him burning all the puppets and scenery one day. John Hardwick has died but did get an obituary in The Times Online and I can find very little on Bob Bura. They may all be dead for all I know. Does anyone know any better? DWB

    Ralph Stanley

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4630347.stm I post this as a new thread for two reasons: 1 - If he gets a page on the BBC website when he has an operation, I'm pretty sure he will get an obit. when he has a funeral. 2 - I don't know who he is. So, the DeathList being a great place of learning, I will wait and see if anyone posts some interesting facts about our man. The BBC page gives a brief overview, but does anybody actually listen to his stuff? DWB http://www.deathlist.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/dry.png

    Stephen Hawking

I thought at first the abuse, suggested in the papers, his wife was dishing out on the poor old professor might lead to his downfall, but I am now of the opinion that he will now be more carefully watched by his army of helpers . . . but you never know! DWB

    McDonald's - bad for your health ...

I was willing to let the death of one top McDonalds manager go, but to have two go within a couple of weeks of each other needs reporting! CEO of McDonalds dies ... ... Geoff Duke

I am looking for a bit of help with this one. Geoff is in his 80's now (unless he has already left without telling me). I wanted to find out how and what he was doing but info. seems a little scarce. Can anyone help out? I am trying to get a few more different candidates onto the forum as new blood is a little hard to come by at the moment. DWB
  20. We seem to have a fair amount of interest in the beautiful game here on the DL - so I am proposing to set up an online management league - The DeathList Championship or similar on xperteleven. I don't know if anyone is familiar with the site, it can be found here: xperteleven.com It is, in my opinion, one of the better ones on the web, and completely free to play - no catches! If you are interested in having a go drop me a PM or reply to this post - we need 8 of us to make it viable, but more the merrier. If we can get a dozen or more it could get really exciting with two divisions and everything! DWB

The Andrews Sisters cropped-up today in a job I was doing at work. A quick flick through the internet and Hey-Presto - Patty is still going, aged 86. Trouble is, I can't seem to get any info on her health. Can anyone help out? DWB

    Carroll Shelby

Carroll Shelby is the mastermind behind the Cobra car now copied by every kit-car manufacturer under the sun. He is also responsible for the mother of all muscle cars, the classic Shelby Mustang. This link takes you to an interview with him published late last year (2004). http://www.freep.com...1e_20041111.htm Mr. Shelby, 81 (possibly 82 by now), is one of the longest-surviving double-organ transplant recipients, with a heart in 1991 and kidney in 1996. A couple of interesting quotes from the article as follows: "When I got my heart 14 years ago (from a Las Vegas gambler who dropped dead at a craps table), I had two weeks to live," he said. "Eight years ago, I got a kidney from my son. I live it a day at a time. But I still have the desire, the ideas." and "I've kind of fallen in love with it [his ranch in East Texas]. I've got to re-fence it, I've got to put 12,000 tons of chicken manure on it, and the house needs rewiring. It's a 10-year deal, and I won't be around in 10 years. But we're getting started." Can anyone give an update on Carrolls health? I hope he hasn't seized since this interview was published. DWB

    Ken Russell

This news is a couple of months old now, but worth reporting, I feel. http://news.bbc.co.u...ilm/3665658.stm MRSA seems to be a bit of a bugger when you catch it, so add that to being 77 years old and you have an interesting mix. One to watch perhaps? DWB
