I found this tribute to Ted Heath by Bill Deedes: The quote came from here: http://www.megastar.co.uk/world/news/2005/...TY4MTM3ODg.html DWB

Hein You can search using the little magnifiying glass search icon at the top right of the screen next to the members icon. Type in your word/phrase but make sure you tell the search engine to look at all posts, not just the 30 days or younger ones. HTH DWB

Another obvious headline: "Dead Heath" or perhaps "It's a Dead Heat-h" DWB

Don't forget that Grim Reaper is always on the look out for a snappy headline when someone dies. So post your suggestions ASAP before he gets here! I think something simple like: "Ted's Dead!" should do it! DWB

I went for a drink down a local pub and a band were rehearsing in the function room. When they finished one of the blokes came into the bar for a drink and I struck up a conversation with him about the music he was playing. I didn't recognised him, but it turned out to be Glen Matlock, one of the original Sex Pistols. The drummer was the Damned's Rat Scabbies, but he had to go home to his family - how Rock n Roll is that? DWB -
Just moving off-topic for a moment. MaryPFC - I note that your language has become rather more fruity and colourful than previously seen. Is there something you want to tell us? DWB

There was some excitement a while ago when it was suggested that Clive Dunn had posted under an alias - you'll have to read the thread to get the full story. Other than that, under the "World's Strongest Man" thread, the wife of Johnny Perry posted a very moving piece about her husbands death which then resulted in the thread being closed. I don't think anyone at the time, or since, thought it was anything other than genuine. That just about covers it I think. DWB -
Have a read of the thread about Greg Louganis if you haven't already. Death by Ex-Lax was attempted! DWB

Irma was (or maybe still is - I have no idea) Aretha Franklin's sister. This info. is probably of no help at all. DWB

An apt one for me might be: Abate the lewd chat! That's what mods do isn't it? DWB

These all look IMMORTAL to me. DWB

Well, I'm still here. Thanks for your concern. DWB

Things are looking up (or down depending on your point of view) as Bill has had to cancel an engagement due to illness: http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,...1510172,00.html As links have been known to die after a while, the bare bones of the story are as follows: He was meant to give a reading at a literary festival at Althorp but - This piece was dated June 20 2005 - hope for the DL. Hear Hear! Ronnie, the only thing you may be wrong on is the FIA not wanting to put in the chicane. I believe all teams had to be in agreement to do it, but Ferrari refused, thus the FIA had to say no to it. DWB -
To the best of my knowledge, Stats is away on business, and has been for some time, but he is free to post at any time. HTH DWB

The English Language
Death Watch Beatle replied to Larry Pestilence III's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I always considered "cark" an Australian slang term, as supported by the following link: http://www.hostelscentral.com/hostels-article-110.html DWB -

Unfortunately it seems it was your first post that killed the language off! I think that's what 'Magere' (!) was trying to point out. DWB -
My brother-in-law is a life-long Saints fan and is not happy! Never mind, he still has some quality away trips to look forward to this year! DWB
