If it helps at all, I'm willing to volunteer myself as a guineapig to see if having a vast amount of money extends life. I'm not sure how we would conduct this experiment, but handing over the money to me would be the first step. DWB

Irony indeed. This is most unwelcome news and I wish you strength in whatever trials you will face in the future. DWB ps - You're meant to report the news not be the news!

Here is the latest on the war crimes suspect: http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200504/s1353108.htm He apparently had dangerously high blood pressure which could lead to a heart attack. We live in hope. DWB

Mr. Heesters has been mentioned previously here under the "World's Oldest" thread. By complete fluke, I happen to compare him to John Mills - Let us hope he is EXACTLY like John Mills! DWB

I'd forgotten about the lawnmower discussion. Your comment made me laugh out loud when I read it and remembered! I have now re-read the thread again because of you . . . DWB

A feather in your cap there Honez, as I know you have championed Sir Joh since last year. DWB

I also like "Brown Bread" - espcially toasted. (With thanks to a team name on the DDP). DWB ps Coffin Dodger is also a very good description for an OAP! -
Again, that rather depends on where you live and how long you lived. My guesstimate is that most Europeans exceeding 40 remember Vera Lynn. I doubt we'll ever meet her, though. regard, Hein I'm surprised, I always thought the Dutch only knew soccer personalities. For sure! DWB

I recall a documentary on tv a few years ago which followed an AIDS sufferer through his final months, and on one of his last mornings, when asked how he was feeling replied: "Not too chipper today". A very underused phrase, and boy did it make me laugh, even though the situation was so tragic! DWB -
Where is the Monster Raving Looney Party in the poll? If I vote for them don't I get a £1? DWB

Perhaps I can shed some light on the membership number conundrum. When a new member is registered they are automatically allocated the next number in the series. When members are struck-off for whatever reason, their number is not reissued. Back in early 2004 we had a large number of bogus members join who never posted, so it order to maintain some kind of security, the members were struck-off, hence the number of members is lower than the number of issued memberships. Does that make any sense at all? DWB

They both seem in reasonable health at the moment. Do you know something that the DeathList doesn't on this subject? DWB

Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 has been known to spin the odd disc by them. I enjoy what he plays but I'm not sure I could stomach a whole album (or concert). DWB

YES Good to see him back after many years out of the limelight. Struggles to deliver his lines on The Two Ronnies these days though. DWB

Sharon and Aimee Osbourne have withdrawn from "The Vagina Monologues" show and flown to the US to treat Aimee for an undisclosed illness. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/arts/4411433.stm Having never watched "The Osbournes" I'm not clear on whether Aimee took part in it - didn't one of the daughters say no to doing it? Poor old Camilla must be cursing her luck recently - loads of crap going off about her wedding to Charles, then the Pope goes and scuppers the big day - what next? - a reappearance of the cancer scare thread? DWB

Fallen Sparrow is the Derby Dead Pool leader who seems to be in possession of the 2005 Celebrity Deaths Almanac, which was acquired while driving a rejected Lotus chassis with a rejected Porsche body through time! DWB

I believe the body was designed by Italian designer Giugiaro of Ital Design, who also worked on the Esprit for Lotus (look familiar?) The Chassis was a Lotus design which was rejected by them and taken up by DMC. I'm no petrol-head, so if any of the above is slightly off, please correct me. DWB
