The English Language
Death Watch Beatle replied to Larry Pestilence III's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Bill Bryson wrote a book about the 'English' language. I have found his other works both funny and easy reading, however this book (which I can't remember the title of) did rather baffle me (not being the sharpest kid in the English lesson some 20 odd years ago). I think he was trying to say that American was a purer English than English. It came over from Plymouth and didn't really change very much for the next 200 years. Or did I just dream it? Now would seem an appropriate time to resurrect, if you like, the headline I posted some time ago. Not a bad effort I thought. DWB

Well, the amount of newspaper coverage Pete can generate seems limitless at the moment. Today he managed the front page for the second day running and the pages 4 and 5 spread of the Daily Mirror. The photos are slightly kinder to him too. The article is about how he Kate Mossed it with a mate of his because he wouldn't give him money to buy drugs or something. DWB

An article from the Beeb reporting on Marc's recovery: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/4225391.stm DWB

Sorry to interupt this cosy little chat, but did anyone happen to see the Daily Mirror today? (Mr. Alive, I happend to glance at a colleagues FYI). Pete on the front page looking like a zombie. Then all over pages 8 and 9 looking variously like drunk, junkie, zombie, DL candidate, the lot. I think he might be a bit too lightweight to pull a 'Keith'. He looks like he's on the rollercoaster to hell! DWB

Congratulations to the DL team - Estee Lauder's demise puts daylight between you and the chasing pack. Quality will out. DWB

Now the street parties are all over following the DL DDP win, I decided to read through Statto's analysis of the 2004 game on the DDP site, and found the following quote; Can anyone clarify what the "constant pettifogging about the rules" was? Was someone getting on Rude Kids or Stattos nerves on a regular basis? DWB

I would like to take you up on your offer and edit your posting. Here is my final edited version: You people are great. this website is really informative. yeah edit this you interesting people I hope this meets with your approval. DWB

Another fact: Near Princes Risborough in Buckinghamshire you can hire Stuart Hall - for parties or jumble sales - needs a coat of paint though! DWB

Going back to the "Do murderers qualify for the DL?" The answer has to be yes. We have had Ian Brady on the books a couple of times now. He is only famous for being a murderer Therefore if Mark Chapman is famous for being the murderer of John Lennon, he must qualify. The general feeling at DL HQ is that Harold Shipman was a bit of miss as well! DWB

Death In Pixie Boots?
Death Watch Beatle replied to weatherman90's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Now, Weatherman, I know you are not one to discuss your website with us, but please, having looked at the link Teddy posted, can you explain what chopping magic logs is all about? How can you tell a magic log from a non-magic log and what the hell are you meant to do with 7,200 of them. Does your character have to carry them around with him or something? Just curious. DWB ps - Have you considered building your character a magic house with these magic logs? Just a thought. -

Death In Pixie Boots?
Death Watch Beatle replied to weatherman90's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
For those still wondering about who wears the pixie-boots. Does this help at all? http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=158 DWB -
Oh dear... poor Guest, talking to yourself again! DWB

Honez I don't recall advertising by signature (or whatever that bit at the bottom is called) being allowed in the Unwritten DeathList Lore. Is this your first book or are you prolific? DWB

Thanks for the Bent Persson info. Anubis, I was chuckling away at the Hampton joke and didn't spot the other immediately. I almost gobbed-out my brandy when I saw that. I haven't laughed so much since the Dick Burns got rather silly! DWB

I understand they are all out tonight watching Glen Miller. DWB

Is the new garden big enough for the sit-on mower? If not maybe I should pop round and make him an offer on it. I've always wanted on of those. I see it as a sign that "you've made it" in life. Not because you can afford a mower, but that you can afford the garden that needs the mower! DWB

Does the following from MSN News help? On another site it was mentioned, rather unconvincingly that he had died of natural causes. DWB

Hey Stayin', don't worry. I dropped a mighty bollock before Christmas thinking Michael Bentine was still around, so what you do is make a couple of light-hearted posts about messing-up, then hope to hell that the thread gets buried under a load of other stuff, then when nobody's looking delete it and be done! My problem is that I will inevitably drop another bollock in the future. I really don't learn from my mistakes. DWB

I saw the post about the funeral and couldn't believe my eyes. It wasn't posted by Earl Gloomy! You didn't miss this one did you Gloomy? DWB
