Ah, yes the South of France, home of Petains Vichy collaborators. The place where the French actively helped to deport their Jews to concentration camps. No thanks, I'll stick with blighty. You're absolutely right Tempus, what the Vichy Collaborators did was indefensible, but my comparison is of France and Britain in 2005. Whilst on the subject, any discussion of concentration camps should begin with the British in South Africa.

Having lived in Britain and France, I know where I'd rather be. I agree with DWB, Paris is not a friendly place and I think most French people would agree too. Down here in the South West, the weather is beautiful, the people are friendly, the wine is good, cheap and plentiful. The pace of life is different and the French in my opinion have their priorities right ie family and home before work, which is why 24 hour shopping is neither necessary nor desirable. 24 hour eating and drinking however.....

Generally, I think they tend to be some of the more entertaining posters. If we had to rely on the once a week posters, things would be painfully slow. I do suspect TF of holding high office somewhere or other, how else would he have the time?

Here's a clue... I have watched this for a little while, and Josco ain't going down. I am immortal! I think it probably has more to do with standing just out of range.

Just curious, is there is a medical reason they live shorter (ahem) lives than people of average height, or is it because they're so likely to kill themselves over their frustration at being tiny that it brings the average down? Could have something to do with this.

First verbal warning maybe? It's already gone far, far too far for that.

Yes I'm still waiting. Nail biting isn't it? By the way Windsor, hope you don't mind, I put your name down as a reference. I didn't realise that this could be so exciting, I think I may have to join as well...... Update.......... Have applied under this moniker: WbfpbQYre (Use ROT13, thanks MH) Be still my beating heart. I am positively full of butterflies; will I be accepted or will I be found out, led outside and shot for treason. Still nothing, I can't bear it. To fall at the first fence would be, well, just too cruel. I'm Ryrnabe Ndhvgnvar. I wonder how many posts you have to do to be promoted from a newbie to a commoner. Will anyone actually get that far without being rumbled? I think the first one to get to commonor without sucking up should get a prize (with the exception of Windsor who has too much of a head start).

I work for myself. I think it's about time I took disciplinary action.

Isn't that overmoderating a bit, calm down, you'll be suffering from moderator burn out if you're not careful. But, whilst you're at it, can I have my vote back please.

I agree. I particularly liked Boudicca's Chas and Dave signature although it seems to have changed again now. My partner saw Chas and Dave at the Bridge House, Canning Town many years ago and was quite appalled to be bitten on the arse by both of them.

An idea whose time has passed

My Aunt used railings stolen from around someone's grave as a fireguard. For some reason members of a certain village family were never invited in to sit around the fire on cold winters evenings.

Thankyou Mr Brimley, the French are generally very nice. I feel I must correct you on the snails though, they pull the them out with a little pointy stick.
