I’m sorry for stepping on Diego’s cleats, but I’m reporting the death of Gilbert Desmet, a Belgian who was the oldest living TDF yellow jersey wearer and came 4th in 1962. Won over 100 races No link because Ned Boulting just mentioned on the telly coverage. And here is, in his late 80s, looking as proud as a peacock and as pleased as Punchinello. -

Not a fan of motorised zimmer frames, or is it the Kemp/Greene dynamic? At least contestants do have to answer actual questions, admittedly easy ones. On Bridge of Shite, they merely have to guess yes or no, which usually proves beyond them. -

Oh, which one was that then? They have streaks (but not streakers yet) on Countdown, so I’ll plump for that. The worst quiz on British TV has to be that one with Ross Kemp, but no streaks available on that. I’ll tell you what, Diego, when I die you have my full permission and encouragement to post it. The link might be the Elham Valley free newsletter, but even that is highly unlikely. -

Does anyone really use this forum as the first port of call to find out who’s died? The Wikipedia deaths is much the best option; this place is for some humour or insight into them. Neither of which is supplied by the likes of Drongo, Telekom, alt-obitsguy and probably others I’ve tried to forget. I’m sorry if I’m being harsh or rude, but you did ask me. Oh, you didn’t…? (Oh and I remember Sergeant Cecil well, but then I’m a racing fan. I don’t need to see him in the Racing thread, though.) -
1/4th dead Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, How long can they Carry On?
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to a topic in DeathList Forum
“a couple of us got sick”. Very gnomic, Neil. I’m sure Ian McNabb could have filled in for any of Crazy Horse, so presumably Neil is one of the sick. -
(Return Of) The Celebrity Split List
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
This guy is even more of a choker off the course than on. Divorce cancelled (postponed, let’s say) after promising to stop balling Balionis. Obviously not in Tiger’s league yet (car windscreen still intact) but very promising signs. -

His target was a century, but it’s been rounded down to 84 due to poor conditions (heart failing to continue beating). He’s got a good spoonerism name. -

dead Sven-Göran Eriksson
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to Dr Hackenslash's topic in DeathList Forum
I’m confused. Why would Beckham shagging Jenkins be important to Sven? Or am I grabbing the wrong end of his stick? -
Like the fitba team tomorrow.

Whoever the fuck he is, he’s looking well. Obviously, this thread should have been closed by Bearer five minutes after he created it, but there’s no point crying over spilt Irn-Bru.

No wonder he wasn’t badly hurt, landing on that trampoline. -
dead Donald Sutherland

Klute and Don't Look Now are right up there for me, was great in MASH too. RIP to a fine actor. -
Dying Off The Radar

Another indie singer/musician, Andrea Heukamp who was a founding member of The House of Love and sang on early tracks like Shine On, appears to have died in 2022 in Germany. I know nobody will be interested so I won’t bother linking the chat about it, just thought it was worth mentioning. I loved the original version of Shine On, so maybe I’ll post that instead. Blimey, Guy Chadwick is 68! -
Passed-Punks & No-Wavers
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to ObakeFilter's topic in DeathList Forum
An actual, honest-to-god No Waver, no less. All four of my Minimalists continue to mock me by being alive 15 years after I made them a thread. Much respect and all that to Chance, but it’s pretty unlistenable stuff if you ask me. And I usually like unlistenable stuff. -
I got a lovely letter from Rich today, it was a bit TLDR but no proofing errors as far as I can see. I see he wants National Service back for the yoof, and he has a pop at Keir. No idea how the cunt got my address, mind.

Cat Deeley offhandedly mentions a seizure and the epilepsy dignitaries are calling for her head on a platter (not literally). Lucky she didn’t do a flid impression, I suppose. Or let her knockers escape like Holly did all those years ago on kids tv. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cn00ndjg238o -

The mere words ‘German pop singer’ is enough to warn me off satisfying my curiosity. -
Songwriters
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy's topic in DeathList Forum
An all-time pop/soul classic, can withstand almost any X-Factor/karaoke butchering. Another good song of Cason’s is Soldier of Love, definitively recorded by Arthur Alexander and butchered by those loveable long-haired Liverpool louts. Edit: I see it just missed out on a place in the 1960s #1s final. That’s tough. -

Jacques Brel's Imitation Jelly Jewellery
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to Paul Bearer's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
This thread has a chequered history. I remember it mainly for me complaining about the Mercury Prize each year. Jaques Brel was never nominated, mainly on the spurious account of being Belgian and dead. -
What’s wrong with Hansen, has he got captain scarlet fever? But seriously, I wish him well, one of our legends.

Didn't Wake Up This Morning...
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to Anubis the Jackal's topic in DeathList Forum
This thread has wandered long and far from its original Honeyboy Edwards/Pinetop Perkins/Ruttling Orange Peel roots if the likes of Angela Bofill are getting dropped off here. -

harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy replied to Banshees Scream's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Apart from seeing Askwith’s arse, it was a fine send off. I’ll miss it.
