My daughter went to see Dom Joly last night ( no, I have no fucking idea why either) at the towns Guildhall. His gig was moved there because ticket sales were absolute shite and he wouldn't have filled a quarter of the Corn Exchange building, the usual music/entertainment venue in our town. She recounted the time, not too long ago, when Andy Parsons also had to move from the main venue to the small one ( poor ticket sales again) and how utterly fucking awkward it was watching him die on stage. Working on the obvious theory that old Harvey had been at it for decades its improbable that he only ever got a female a part in a movie just because she was hugely talented. That's terribly sad. I lost my son in law, over a year ago, to a brain tumour. He had it for 8 years, it was operated on, managed and kept at bay. His last appointment, after a scan, was very positive, consultant was very happy with things. Within 6 months he died in a hospice. My daughter is in her 30s and a fucking widow. That's how it gets you, she's done well to survive this long. Hopefully the treatment will keep her going a bit longer. Life really is fucking cruel, innit.
