In other news, tell us more about this "hypothetical" future world where we all get thrashed at deadpooling by a robot, MPFC....... I can't which is why I was asking but I'm assuming a computer programme to beat a human at dead pooling would be way easier to write than one to beat a human at chess. It would need to be able to trawl newspaper coverage of celebrities and illness/old age, vector in the relative survival chances and make some allowance for the uncertainties, like the points at which the likes of Zsa Zsa tease us about their real age and the state of their health. I'm not an expert in programming, but that's easier than the kind of programmes that people like actuaries use, right? When's your birthday, I'll get you a new sarcasm detector..... I know a teacher. She was crowing, only the other day, that she had a mere thirty days till the next school break. These kinds of threads are pointless as it presupposes that those who created the list give a toss what forum members think. They don't. AFAIK,apart from one who used to but doesn't anymore, allegedly, the rest of the "committee" rarely participate in the forum.

Put aside the logic and just consider the frivolity. Dunn was on more than a few yearly lists, not prolifically so but enough to tie him in to the forum and what its about. Dunn became a bit of a hook, clearly people who aren't registered on here tie him inextricably to the forum, even after he has long gone. That's the thrust of it and, probably, what the OP was pertaining to. Its not a case of saying that there will be such folk in the future,we don't compile the lists, unless the committee deign to create a regular it wont attract the attention, will it. I actually thought Dicky 'O may have made the last few lists, at the very least, hey ho. Absolutely no harm in having a DL regular to carry out ambassadorial duties or summat.

To be honest I always used to think that the "Clive Dunn is a DL legend/mascot" bollocks was way overplayed.
