Richard Lee Sung - He could also have gone into the Korean War Vets thread, but he' s likely more known from MASH, one of the few actual Koreans on the show, died in August this year. MASH Matters Podcast Twitter: "We are deeply saddened to announce that veteran character actor and beloved #MASH guest star Richard Lee Sung passed away at the age of 91 on August 16th, 2021. Here is a statement from Richard's son, Russell. Rest in Peace, Curlee. Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen... https://t.co/Earpsa8EOR" / Twitter

There isn't much to tell. December 92 I am on a little holiday on the QE2 with my dad, and Ann and Nick are filming their Xmas special. They film various people saying Merry Christmas to the camera including me and dad and then an overhead shot of everyone on board together waving at the camera saying Happy Christmas. We all sit down to watch Xmas morning but they have cut out all the individual bits and just show the overhead. I am near the front so you can just about see me, but yeah, I was cut out so we watched it for nothing.

The Happy Birthday Thread

Happy 84th birthday to Loretta Swit -
There's always Biggins. I feel strangely saddened by Lionel's demise, don't know why.

He was on my DDP Team a few years ago. He doesn't seem to have been chosen since. Seems I am one of the few to remember him.

At the suggestion of Toast and similarly to the "Words we dislike" thread I present names we dislike. I'm thinking of fairly ordinary names we don't like rather than the outlandish mumsnet type fare. Robyn or Robin I've already mentioned, Zoe because almost every single one I've met has been horrible and Yvonne for similar reasons and because it sounds awful. I've just remembered Sonya and Julia as well. I don't know anyone by that name though my younger niece was nearly Julia. I just think they sound awful, especially with a northern accent. It does amuse me that Sonya is Russian for dormouse though. For men I can't stand the name Jason for a human though it's fine for a pet.

Warren Clarke would disagree, if he weren't already dead of course.

A certainty of autumn is that your possibilities for next year start dying off.

Sad news, though I was frightened of the scampi when I was a child. -
My mum was friends with Alvin Stardust.

If you think that's weird, I got recommended a Victorian era lingerie page after liking a T0m Lehrer one[intentional typo due to superstition]. -

Yes, I believe it's known as the Michael Staniforth effect to those of us of a certain age. -
I knew I was forgetting someone, Ray Austin, mostly thought of as a stuntman but he did of bit of everything including acting.
-
1932 Names Norman Bowler - Emmerdale, Robin of Sherwood, loads of ITC stuff in the 60s. The only other ones I can think of that haven't been mentioned are more famous for other things but have made some tv apearences, Nina Van Pallandt and Petula Clark.

Jimmy Greaves a hit for a fair few of us here.

He has a small role in my favourite Man in a Suitcase episode.

Shouldn't this be in the Quiz thread? I got 139. Vatican City and The Philippines were the most obvious I missed. -

Definitely Dr Craig for me. I have never seen Knight Rider. I'm not sure he warrants a thread of his own though and I say that as a St Elsewhere fan.

I was sure Myfanwy Talog, David Jason's partner for many years before her death from cancer aged 50 had been in the odd episode but she's not. I wonder if there is a general John Sullivan curse, none of the main male actors in Dear John reached 70 and Diane Bull who was in the mostly forgotten Sitting Pretty died aged only 46. The cast of Citizen Smith seem to have escaped it though. Edit - I know there isn't really a curse and any programme which ran for years and with a long cast blah di blah, I just find interesting to note these things.

I noticed that too. Wasn't he in a really bad car accident some time back that he took a while to get over.
