  1. Yes it does. Though I'm not convinced that site Web is website

'Site web' is what the French call a website. It's a bit like le parking, le camping and le weekend I suppose.

Hmm. A French speaking Swiss friend of mine didn't think it was and I taught French for two years and was always under the impression that is was simply website. Ah well I never did like teaching French anyway

  2. So we're meant to believe that he's fit enough to travel between the two places then

Yes, that's got me puzzled too.

I thought I'd heard he was no longer in control of his mind and body.

But I must have heard wrong.

Then again, the site in question is a fan site and is hardly going to say that the great Stan Butler now lives in his own filth in a nut-house, is it?

    Yes that's true

  3. I remember seeing an interview with him a couple of years ago on GMTV where he said if he died tomorrow he's achieved the last thing he wanted to do which was have a #1 single. and he did, he teamed up with comedian Tony Hawks and they had a #1 hit single in Albania  :pop:

Did they get to number one? I read that book (big Tony Hawks fan here) and I thought they got to number 18

  4. Reg Varney is very, very ill.

He's been licking windows in an old people's home for the past 20 years or so.

I presume he spends his day dribbling and soiling himself.

A sad end for a great comic actor.

Any idea which old people's home?

    This should help.

He lives in Malta and Dartmouth, apparently...

So we're meant to believe that he's fit enough to travel between the two places then

  5. It's funny how one gets from there to here. I am a member of another forum that is dedicated to a folk/rock band from the seventes and out of sheer boredom i started a thread on 'Great Triangle Players' (one of those classic tales of don't go on a board at two thirty in the morning pissed up on Jack Daniels and try and be funny), and after we had gotten to four pages someone berated me for not mentioning Charlie Drake and his virtuoso performance during Tchaikoski's 1812 overture. So being the idiot i am with no life i decided to google the man and i ended up here in a bleeding Death List Forum !!!!.Sorry about the ramblings here but i'm still extremely hung over and i have registered so expect lots more of this rubbish from now on.

Which folk/rock band, out of interest?

I'm going to regret this...............Fairport Convention.

Hey another Fairport fan. Nice to meet you

  6. one of her clients was an ex Corrie actress who got into debt because of drink/drug/men problems.

It wouldn't be Jennifer Moss, who played Lucille Hewitt, by any chance? Lots of well-publicised problems with drink, drugs and men.

Yes it was her. Don't know much about her now though, so I'm not sure if she's a candidate for next year or not. She doesn't seem to have worked for ages though

  7. I've been reading a book about the women of Coronation Street and apprently our Betty was considered to be top totty in her day!!!

Changing the subjet slightly, my mum was a debt counsellor in the late 80s/early 90s and one of her clients was an ex Corrie actress who got into debt because of drink/drug/men problems. She won't tell me who it is though but they are still alive. I'll let you know if I find out as she might be a suitable candidate

  8. The Telegraph obtuaries page surpassed itself this morning with a fine obit on Derek Reid, former chief mushroom expert at Kew who would have been a gem for any dead pool. Unfortunately the obit does not include the splendid accompanying photograph.

It must be left to your imagination then after reading this extract:

"Derek Reid always had a sense of fun, but during his early career he was shy, studious and bald. His forties, however, coincided with the permissive Seventies, and he celebrated with the adoption of a luxuriant wig, a collection of 200 dazzling ties and an exuberant manner to match. His marriage did not survive this transformation."

I think I met this guy at a Liverpool Museum. He asked my friend and I if we were interested in mushrooms(there was a mushroom exhibition and he was trying to get us to subscribe to some mushroom magazine), we were students so you might imagine our answer

    <_<

I mentioned Dave Davies from the Kinks last year. I think Ray will be grand for decades yet though. Saw him in concert this year and he looked good, very good :)
