It's been interesting checking the most viewed page stats. Usually, it follows an expected pattern - recent obits with image headliners get the most clicks. Only strangely Walter Mercado, a 2019 death, has suddenly exploded in pageviews! Figure some other site linked to it but still a headscratcher.

Picked on the DDP by ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERNS FRONT. So one to keep an eye on to see if the news filters into the mainstream Hollywood sources.
-
If true, I just namechecked him in the obit for the Belarus guy two days ago! Even quicker mention-to-death span than Liz Sheridan. It's always random cases like that and never the Kissinger jokes...
-
It won't catch his eyes though
-
The joker doubles the entire total, correct. If Lively died she'd be 20 points.

It's how you hang the people who really deserve it, IMO. Just factually state their life without much editorial commentary to give the "he was a cunt" bit all the more sting. Will shamelessly admit to nicking that motif from some of msc's past obits (I remember Phil Spector and Larry Flynt having that same general "he was very important in his field. he was also a cunt" line) but some gags are too effective not to recycle!

No, completely missed your prior mention somehow Ta.

On it right now. Reptile's "(THEME)" prefixes are a real godsend for making the updates quick and easy! I make a mental note to update the beginning of each month but sometimes it slips from my mind!

I am using my current free time to finally chip away some more at the stats - today I calculated the lifetime points totals of those already on the page, up to the end of 2021. I feel it's worth mentioning that nine teams crossed the 1000 point threshold last year: The Misers, Poochie, Heading Nowhere, Ethnic Cleansing, Dead Ends, This Mortal Coil, Going Underground, Carkers Convention, and some mysterious chapess from New Jersey... Well done to all! 2022 points aren't going in the stats until the year is done, but Spade has since crossed the threshold as well, and Drunkasaskunk will do the same whenever George Perez dies. The Beatles Are Dying in the Wrong Order also has a decent chance achieving the same, but that's probably it for potentials this year.

Indeed, and here's his QO: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/ap-belarus-alexander-lukashenko-mikhail-gorbachev-ukraine-b2071355.html

Reliable character actor Nehemiah Persoff also proved a reliable pick for markb4, who likes it hot on his team with his total bolstered by 28 unique points (20 + 8). Ghoulish former MP Jill Knight was on Gooseberry Crumble's subs bench, giving him his first points of the season or indeed in the HPDP in general. As with the other Tom, Tom Smith experienced a drastic collapse in HPDP popularity, dropping from 20 to last year to 4 this. The teams who scrummage up points are John Key with 40, drol with 30, and the first sub hit for An Fear Beag and Exu. maryportfuncity went alone in selecting Coke-guzzling supercentenarian Kane Tanaka, who died days after becoming the 2nd oldest person in history. He receives 28 points (20 + 8) and the rights to bodyguard protection from distraught 110 Club users if he so desires. No real drastic changes in the latest scoreboard, although maryportfuncity and drol both climb into the top 10: 1. Book 290 2. gcreptile 228.81 3. Banana 215.81 4. msc 185 5. Salmon Mousse 176 6. Next update in... probably a few hours. Looks like it's Nehemiah Persoff, Tom Smith, Jill Knight, and Kane Tanaka for this update? Also Joe Krush on List of the Lost.

Glad to have that cleared up as I was really confused over that. I thought you were just really finicky about people not using the word "verified" as I had no idea what else it could be!

Judd previously discussed struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts, so I think suicide is most likely.
-
Described by her family as dying of "mental illness". Unnatural bonus on the cards if we can get some less ambiguous language on the sad circumstances?
-
I remember close to a decade ago, James Sisnett (the 2nd oldest man at the beginning of 2013) only QOed because of a Mail article about Jiroemon Kimura being the last living man born in the 19th century, which mentioned Sisnett as the penultimate.

Not really sure if you need a moral justification for thinking Big Mouth is shit, Pat.

Read Any Good Books Lately?

Not much a reader but mostly inbetween jobs atm so using it to catch up on some stuff on my shelves. Got through Alex Trebek's autobiography, which was more or less a string of two-three page anecdotes and a good mix of amusing and sweet stories. Very poignant near the end when he talked about his looming death. Also really funny seeing the occasional curse word given how polished he was on TV Will have to get to Ronnie Spector's next of course, which I see has a final edition released in a week's time. -
RIP. Nice that she was able to reach her final remaining realistic milestones, and that Lucile Randon has lasted long enough to become world's oldest after all that time at #2!

I could see the hit a day rate lasting into May at this rate. A far cry from when it seemed about to go under in March. There's also a basic Yahoo obit for Arno but weirdly it does not seem to convert to UK.

Cricket Thread. Only Mad Dogs And Englishmen
Death Impends replied to The Four Horsemen's topic in DeathList Forum
TBF the shock in this thread isn't that he died (beyond the general sense of "it's sad when someone dies that young") and moreso that he got a DDP-friendly obit when a cricket diehard such as yourself never heard of him. -
He was picked again later but it wouldn't be a record anyway, Henry Lincoln was picked in 2006 and died this year. Jack Newton could've outdone even that if he didn't return as a pick this year. It was his first year in the DDP since 2003!

Minimalists (and other classical composers/musicians)

He was picked as recently as 2014, but yes, LotM. -
Quick and dirty Yahoo UK - https://uk.news.yahoo.com/rock-n-roll-hall-famer-212000001.html Though I maintain RnRHoF inductee + launching Little Richard's career means he should get something better down the line.

I picked both Art Rupe and Liz Sheridan, so I believe this is my first ever Daily Double? Sheridan a substitute too for a jumped-the-gun death, and I made a mental note weeks before to pick the Seinfeld moms somewhere but forgot until then. So this gave me room for one and tbf it would've gotten me points either way.
