I'm sorry; I didn't realize. I just thought all 2018 deaths were to be posted in this particular forum category.

In an ideal world they would be.  It makes absolute sense for all deaths to be recorded in the annual thread, as well as in their own category thread(s).

This thread should be a useful catch-all reference for the year.  So you have done nothing wrong.

    Yes, good call!!

I remember a jar of that in the house when I was a lad, it was the nearest thing to looking like cat vomit as I have ever seen.

    Vile stuff.

It was never in our house, but I encountered it in the home of a friend.

My mother wouldn't tolerate Salad Cream either.  Horrid stuff.

Jerry Hopkins, an author and veteran Rolling Stone writer that served as the magazine's Los Angeles corespondent in the late Sixties, died in Bangkok, Thailand on June 3rd after a long illness. He was 82. His wife Lamyai confirmed Hopkins' death.

In 1980, Hopkins wrote No One Here Gets Out Alive, the definitive Doors biography that was used as the basis for Oliver Stone's 1991 movie.

That is somewhere on my bookshelves.  His co-author, Danny Sugerman, died in 2005, so the titular prophecy has been fulfilled.

FTR and obviously with all respect I shouldn't have to heap onto Spade, he said in his tip (I checked beleive you me) 'from his same source as...' and if Google can't find it, and it can't, I've no idea his source, not even a hint about an illness.  I'm not doubting Spade at all (and the fact everyone else has Will speaks to that) but I couldn't verify anything and just not enough to go with. So  I  passed.  I guess I could have PMd Spade but that seems wrong.

Sir Creep’s fast food tip for the day:

I always used to get this at lunch and it was under $2.50 U.S.  I am pretty sure you’re still looking at only $3.50-3.75.

    1. Go to Wendy’s.  Now I know, but trust SirC and read on!

    2. Order the sour cream and chive potato (it’s possible this tip pertains only to the Irish).

    3. Order a small bowl of chili.

    4. Find a clean table top (gl) park your arse and open up your spud, cut it up a bit with your plasticware.

    5. Dump chili on top, you should fill up the potato boat and still have about half the chili to add later.

    6. Apply a glob of sour cream to taste and dietary restrictions.

Not only is this the cheapest fast food meal you’ll create, it’s also likely the healthiest, and also likely the most filling, all FTW.

Great idea, but I think the air fare would affect the budgetary advantages.

That said, I decided to watch some more substantial science fiction next after the SW bollocks: I have started looking at the Planet of the Apes series since I had only ever seen the first one with Charlton Heston and it was years since I had looked at it.

I rewatched that today and it stands the test of time well. I then watched the second one next (Beneath the Planet of the Apes) and it is a lot weaker but, whereas I knew the first one was based on Pierre Boulle's book "Monkey Planet" I had no idea that the second one drew so heavily on Aldous Huxley's "Ape and Essence". I'll watch Escape from the Planet of the Apes next which apparently brought Boulle back as a consultant to help with the script. These were the good old days when Hollywood used actual writers for their scripts...

Here's a sad story for you.  One of those Planet of the Apes films had a 15 certificate.  I was 12 or 13 and went with two older friends to see it, only to be knocked back because the jobsworth in the ticket office didn't believe I was 15.  I was utterly mortified and had to go home alone on the bus (a 40 minute journey).  :(

The only comfort was that I hadn't really been all that keen on seeing the film.

Hardly surprising though given her pampered lifestyle and the best health care money can buy, I bet the queen lives to at least 105 or 106 years of age she will live longer than her mother who lived to 101.

I would take issue with "pampered".  It would be easy for someone in the Queen's position to overindulge themselves.  But she is known to be quite frugal in her habits,  nothing to excess.  I think she deserves some credit for her own good health.

Best new band in a long time.  The real deal.  Wish I was still in Michigan cuz they do shows there presently and can be caught at small venues.  That won’t last long.  I went through that with White Stripes.

Aren't they just.  There is hope out there, people.

Too late for London tickets, sadly, but they are currently doing Euro festivals including Download.
