f**k the Phillies. If you feel inclined to be a front runner just become a Yankee fan because they have finally developed some young talent who have potential. They also just bought three top players who's salaries are worth 293 million combined. Although I'm a Jamie Moyer fan because he is 46, a location arm, and he just signed a two year deal which is ridiculous. He made his debut in 1986. Anyway, this is off topic but it's just conversation in the meantime until somebody drops dead. I'm going out and it's time to open up some more champaign. You are such a d*ck. I'm from Philly. The Yankees and Mets can try to buy it every year, and they keep losing. I hate you and I hate the Mets. Eat Sh*t!! Happy New Year.

I don't know Miser. I thought he was a good candidate when he was trying to get out of jail but when he was released he suddenly got healthy. He even talked about running for office. He's like a post-hype prospect in Baseball. By the way, Go Phillies.

Your bad year are very many peoples best year. Good Luck!

I agree with most of this although I would keep Castro. What is the deal with keeping Eli Wallach? I thought we determined that he was pretty healthy for a 94 year old.

I think Dr. Death Jack K. may finally be ripe in 2010.

I agree. I like the Steinbrenner inclusion. Overall better then last year, I still would have likes to see Winehouse sneak in there instead of someone like Jake Lamotta pick. Biggs doesn't deserve the #1 slot. Robson would have been my pick. I like the Lockerbie guy No. 2.

Happy New Year to all my UK brethren!!!

Fred Shuttlesworth is in intensive care again. Good for him...if you believe in God...I think he will end up in a better place then Mr. Bevel. Recovering nicely

I'm locked and loaded. As soon as I submitted, I instantly regretted some of my choice. Oh Well.

That doesn't seem unreasonable. It was a panto and she is Linda Lusardi, the National Treasure. Think of the children. Oh, and Farrah was discussed at the Committee meeting. Did she make it? We'll all just have to wait and find out..... What a tease....

Well out of their range, I think. It'd take a suicide attack or similar to get close. They are lobbing glorified mortars and in response being hit by jet fighters, the lopsided death tolls tell that story pretty clearly. You mess with the bull, then you get the horns.

I agree with Grobler. I also like the Colts. I say Colts-Eagles with Colts winning. -
We should make a rule that if Clive Dunn ever dies then he automaticly is named the most significant death for that year. Although I don't believe that it will ever happen.

It should be Heston then Newman...Pinter is like 10th. While I know his work, most people in the US don't even know who he is. A playright? in 2008? What percentage of people have any exposure to him? Even Edmund Hillary is a better pick. I have to respectfully disagree. Few individuals, let alone actors, have reached the iconic status Paul Newman has achieved. With that said, Harold Pinter is certainly one of the most influential dramatists of the last century. I would say next to Paul Newman, Harold Pinter was the most significant death of 2008 (others I thought were truly significant who passed away in 2008, based on objective observations and not my personal feelings, include George Carlin, Alexy II, Mark Felt, Edmund Hillary, and Suharto). Anyway, here's my update of most significant deaths from 1990 to 2008. 2008: Paul Newman 2007: Benazir Bhutto 2006: Gerald Ford 2005: Pope John Paul II 2004: Ronald Reagan 2003: Bob Hope 2002: Queen Mother 2001: Victims of 9/11 2000: Charles Schultz (slow year for celebrity deaths) 1999: John F. Kennedy, Jr. 1998: Frank Sinatra 1997: Princess Diana 1996: George Burns 1995: Yitzak Rabin 1994: Richard M. Nixon 1993: Audrey Hepburn 1992: Isaac Asimov (slow year for celebrity deaths) 1991: Dr. Seuss 1990: Jim Henson
