Speaking of musicians named Ronnie, I also am surprised that Ronnie Hawkins hasn't gone by now.

Congrats!!! Is there a higher level of is that a closely guarded secret? -
Well, that just leaves plan B alors, time to fire up our Heath Robinson H-bomb and undiscover the new world. We could then convince the Portuguese, who don't appear to be too busy finding Maddy, to set sail on a voyage of discovery to refind the now undiscovered new world, send out all the most despised European politicians (er I'm guessing that's most of them) to colonise and more importantly write a constitution outlawing the use of guns. After all it was the Chinese who invented gunpowder and there are those that wish to surpress the rise of this superpower. The embargo on Chinese gunpowder could be disguised as a Free Tibet protest. Stay tuned, next I intend to tackle climate change with the use of a tin of brasso, an ostrich feather and the population of Liechtenstein. It all makes sense to me, except the signature line asking people to vote for Dunn as it has become clear to me that he is indeed, immortal.

I am American and do not own a gun, nor do I have a desire to ever own the gun. The fact of the matter is that the 2nd Amendment is in the Constitution and it will NEVER be amended in my lifetime. It would take a 2/3 vote of both sides of Congress which would never happen (Hillary Clinton would even vote against it, as she was talking this weekend about how much she enjoyed learning to shoot). Then you would need 3/4 of the states. I'm not sure that they would get 5 states at this point. So the mentions in this thread that the US should just amend the Constitution is not based in reality.

I'm quite surprised, especially after reading recently that two of my Theme Team picks (Elmer Lach and Milt Schmidt) were doing as well as some of the others who were a couple of years younger. Hadn't even known that Reardon had Alzheimer's. Anyhow, site updated to reflect his death. Also, per the guest question, the site is now located at www.canadianpaul.com after some server issues. I see the main page....please to be directing me to the mentioned Hall of Rules Oops, sorry. I keep forgetting that you have to type http://www.canadianpaul.com/main.html for the version with frames. Thanks...I may have to try to scrape a team together...do I need to petition for membership?

Another acknowledgement in a review of Leatherheads.... But it does look good, and it often sounds good too, with subsidiary performances from Keith Loneker and others that are equal to the dialogue thrown at them. The executive producer is Sydney Pollack, one of Hollywood’s best, who is now unfortunately gravely ill in Los Angeles. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/film/film-23...viewId=23476623

Most Significant Death For Every Year From 1963 To Present

I remember you said you had a Master's Degree. I'm sure that if you and your friends had not been so busy preparing your theses, you would have recognized those names in a minute! Everyone in the US knew Hillary....Suharto not so much (only political and/or deathlist junkies). -
Actually the Second Amendment says the Americans have the right to bear arms to form militias. This was originally because there was very little formal policing around when the constitution was formed and therefore it was written in to the consitution to allow small towns and farms to protect themselves. It doesn't say that every American has the right to bear arms for self protection, that is a common misconception. They just argued a big case at the Supreme Court to determine whether the Second Amendment is limited by the militia clause. http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/news/polit...historic_g.html Convention wisdom is that the Supreme Court will rule that the Second Amendment is not limited to the militia's clause and that it creates an individual right to own a gun. We will see.

Surely this could be solved quickly an easily by changing the right to bear arms to be the right to bear non-lethal arms? Using tazers, capsicum spray, non-lethal projectile guns, etc. as a means of self-defence has to be preferable to finding yourself up on manslaughter charges after "protecting your property," and it would stop dumb-arsed kids blowing their brains out playing Russian Roulette with the loaded gun they found hidden in the sock drawer. Good luck changing the Constitution to say that.
