I'll try this signature thing.... Quotation fixed [HCW]
-
If the DL (or any other team that did the same thing - only one team - who picked Gene Pitney - noticed their error!) had noticed their mistake & sent me an e-mail, I would've let them off. As it was, I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing! PS Thanks for the heads-up for the pic info DDT. Depending on whether or not George Moore gets a UK obit in the next few days and also depending on Suharto finally dying, I'll update the scoreboard before the weekend. Does this count? http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/sport/articl...rned/article.do

African Leaders - Despots and Democratic
The Miser replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList Forum
Somalia's interim President Abdullahi Yusuf has fallen ill and been flown to neighbouring Ethiopia for treatment. A BBC correspondent says Mr Yusuf, 72, collapsed on Friday morning in the seat of government, Baidoa. Prime Minister Nur Hussein Hassan said his condition was not serious, but close aides have suggested otherwise. -
Sounds like Congestive heart failure. I have a talent diagnosing people that I've never seen or talked to.

Britney Spears, Kerry Katona, Heather Locklear et al.
The Miser replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
Us magazine says that Britney Spears is at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is being held as a "special needs" patient, meaning... "they have either overdosed or tried to commit suicide. So we go stay with these patients and monitor them constantly. We watch them so they don't hurt themselves and watch the people who come visit them to make sure they don't pass anything to them." When the psychiatrists finally sat down to talk to her last night, their evaluation ended up just being some drawings of a koo-koo clock, although one doctor drew a ball with a screw in it, so there is some dissension apparently. -
oh...fantastic news....I think he was my joker..... I wouldn't get too upset yet...I think this means a matter of a few months rather then a few months.

Why Johansson? I have him my larger list but couldn't find any recent updates.

Rep. Lantos to retire due to cancer By ANNE FLAHERTY, Associated Press Writer 6 minutes ago WASHINGTON - Rep. Tom Lantos, a California Democrat and chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, announced on Wednesday that he will not seek re-election this year because he has cancer of the esophagus. Lantos, 79, is the only Holocaust survivor elected to Congress and is known for his dedication to human rights issues. He is serving his 14th term, after joining the House in 1981. "It is only in the United States that a penniless survivor of the Holocaust and a fighter in the anti-Nazi underground could have received an education, raised a family, and had the privilege of serving the last three decades of his life as a member of Congress," Lantos said in a statement. "I will never be able to express fully my profoundly felt gratitude to this great country." According to his statement, "routine medical tests" revealed the cancer. It did not provide additional details. Lantos was born in Budapest, Hungary. In 1944, as a teenager, he was sent to a labor camp but eventually escaped. Three years later, he came to the United States on an academic scholarship. He is married to Annette, his childhood sweetheart. The couple has two daughters, 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. "His experience, intelligence, and compassion will be deeply missed," said Pelosi, D-Calif.

-------------------- "If men are men, there will be enough space for everyone who lives in Kosovo. But if men are not men, the entire planet will not be big enough for only two men, like it was in the times of Cain and Abel." ~ Patriarch Pavle of Serbia Guess this would qualify as an unnatual cause. Here's wishing that the source of your quote is next.

Bobby Robson is my guess, although Pollack could be a quick one.

I knew she was a little iffy, but she is a Princess. Good start though.

Maria del Carmen Bousada Don't know if its a long shot...but world's oldest mother is I think worth an obit. Ron Springs American football player...pretty good player and his son plays...widely covered in the US...UK obit may be iffy Candinal Paul Shan Kuo-hsi Catholic candinals get US AP obits...don't know anout UK -
Bravo with this pick. I had him last year based on his first brain tumor. Now that he had a second, he is an even better pick.
-
Number 1 with a bullet. I didn't use him, maybe that was a mistake.
-
As do I, number 2 might be a tad high though.
-
I'm a little disappointed that neither Pete or Winehouse made the list. It seems like one spot could be designated for young rockers that have horrific drug problems...lots of past success in that area.

OOO- I am putting the finishing touches on my list. I had Heston and Ali last year and was thinking of dropping them since I haven't seen anything about there health deteriorating since last year. I also am thinking of dropping Sharon. Talk some sense into me. I know OoO has responded already, but I'll drop in my thoughts as well... maybe more so to get them written out for myself than anything. Heston will be on my DDP and RDP until he's gone, which I don't feel will be much longer of a wait. His disease progressed so rapidly that I doubt we'll get the decade wait that we had for Reagan. Heston wanted the public to be updated on his condition constantly, so the fact that it's gone silent against his wishes makes me think the fight in him, which back in 04 I would have presumed would have given him a decade ala Reagan, is gone already. He's not a deffo like a certain Archbishop I've heard of, but I can guess that he'll be a popular DDP 08 pick and is worth taking a spot on a list of 20, or even 10. Ali and Sharon are a bit different in my eyes. I'll say now that they're both going on my HDP 08, but the caveat to that is that I can only pick people I've seen die in dreams, which drastically reduces my choices. Having said that, they are both obviously very ill and, as OoO mentioned for Heston, not getting any better. Sharon could but, let's face it, he won't. Ali won't get better, but he might fight it off for a while yet, maybe even another half decade or so. But both of them could be dead tomorrow as well. So you've got to go with your heart on this one. If you've got 20 better candidates, don't feel bad for leaving them off. But if you put them on and they don't die, well no one is going to chastise you for your choice. Thanks for the advice. I put in an entry in the DDP just for fun, although I'm not too sure of what will warrent a UK obit. I took an cross-section of my larger (68 person) list.

Any health updates on Mr. Coma? Otherwise he might be not be worth listing.
-
Love the Alain Robert pick, although too gutsy for me. I'll take Winehouse and Doherty instead.

Concentrate on your strengths and do the best list you can, or you could have fun and choose anyone you like. You never know, they might all croak it! I try to have a nice mix of people like Christodoulos (who is a definate) and people like Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty. Its suppose to be fun, we are not insurance actuaries after all. Or if you are please let me know what you think...
