Grammy-winning Tex-Mex singer Emilio Navaira is in a coma after 'doing a Bucks Fizz' through his tour bus windscreen. But would he get a UK obituary anyway, even if he made it through the next 8 months?

I know Macca had a few digs at his former colleagues (Too Many People, Three Legs ), but comparing your ex to Craig Bellamy is a low blow indeed. Maybe a covers album would be more suitable: I Can't Stand Up for Falling Down - Elvis Costello Nick Kershaw's Wooden It Be Good Footloose by dear old Kenny Loggins Lean on Me - Bill Withers XTC's Life Begins at the Hop and even the ZZ Top disco-boogie classic Leg

The Remakable Banshees Scream

Like these, perhaps? Or these? -
Dead. You're seeing them off at quite a rate, DDT. Edit - I expect I'll be admonished for putting this news in the wrong thread.

Well, wouldn't you agree that expanding the discussion to Former European Presidents And Prime Minister's would make the thread more informative and interesting? I really think so. It would give readers more options to post about and besides, it's better to have a thread which covers 'a whole category' then a thread which would only cover 1\3 of the category. This way, it's basically limiting a subject to one thread instead of four threads. You know what I mean? Okey, but before I started the post I went online too check out all the chosen leaders of Europe who are 90+. If someone else has 90+ suggestions outside Europe please place them here. Maybe we should merge the thread with the Political Fraility thread, which serves much the same purpose. Threads merged - LG I am not agreeing with this merge. I started this post because the politics on this site are always very UK/USA oriented. When there is a lot of attention to somewhat lesser important English or American politicians, a lot of important chosen leaders of other contry's are forgotten. Take Francis Pym for instance he was very important for the UK, but when I saw on this site he was dead I started looking on all the European stations that I can get on my television and only the BBC had news about him and/or his dead. That's why I think the site should only be foccused on Monarchs, Presidents and Prime Ministers and it should forget (unless they have a great reason) all the ministers, senators or other politicians under them. These are just my thoughts. My thoughts: You're a topic-whoring young twat. Your grasp of English is abysmal, even for a Dutchie (cf the great Magere Hein). Please calm down and respect the forum - this topic was merged for a good reason.

Welcome to DL Mr/Mrs/Miss Outraged. I do hope you'll stick around and maybe even join us Hello Outraged of TW. I really do hope you join. I love the tenor of your rant! Couldn't agree more, faux-outraged-member-posing-as-guest. Yawn.

Hogan's Heroes star and pioneering black actor/director Ivan Dixon has died at 76. Hogan's Heroes was never very big in the UK, as far as I can remember.

Talking in broad cockney was made a Class A offence in 1995.

Basil must have been hanging out with Mr Enoch lately.

Neither has anyone else - his name was John Hewer. The soaraway Sun's heard of John Brewer. Apparently, he's a 'greasy-haired pervert' who resembles a rodent and has a weakness for under-10's. As for Captain Birdseye... well, it were only allegations after all.
-
It just shows how popular he was I excually didn't think a best director winner would die this year. (I.m not following the Pollack Hype) He was a journeyman, unworthy of an Oscar. I can't believe The English Patient won 9 of the things (scuppering Fargo along the way), while Truly, Madly, Deeply was just irritating twaddle in middlebrow clothing.

As mentioned on the Dead thread, John Hewer AKA Captain Birdseye is now fish food, but that means another cabin is freed up on the good ship Brinsworth.

Didn't manage to send out an SOS, then.

The the first hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, Metropolitan Laurus, is dead, his brother Waterloo and City has announced.

This seems like the most prominent philosophy thread, so it'll have to do. John Gray has written a denunciation of the current crop of media-friendly athiests such as Amis, Dawkins and Hitchens. I suppose I'm on their side, but it's nice to read a sober, well-argued and interesting case for the opposition. He's not as funny as Dawkins, mind.

CA, didn't you get the memo? We're not supposed to disparage unimaginative newcomers anymore. We're supposed to thank them for their contribution and politely welcome them to the DL. Quite right. Unless you can come up with a Don Quixote, Eroica or Hamlet within your first three posts please don't bother sticking around.

Nick Du Toit / Simon Mann / Mark Thatcher

Ian McCulloch had an interesting haircut and a nice line in Scouse wit, but a great man... ? -
It is, however, misleading, given the title of this thread. Humphrey Lyttelton is NOT dead, or even unwell. Posted something jazz-related in the only jazz thread here, complete with obvious caveat. String me up why dontcha, Mr DL Policeman. It's a wonder why anyone ever joins this site.

Once again, TAFKAG, you've grasped the wrong end of a relatively simple stick. Please take more care, darling... Mann fingered filthy gun-running, murdering criminal businessman Ely Calil but, unfortunately, denied any involvement by Archer or Mandelson. See the whole interview here. zzz You seem like a lovely lil' fella, SC, but now do us all a favour and go f**k yourself, you post-whoring cnut. -

'117-year-old' Varvara Semennikova has died. She was 'Russia's oldest person' and would have been the world's oldest by about five years. And that's the God's honest pravda. I reckon them damn Commies are tryin' to restart the Old War and the Age Race.

Humphrey Lyttelton hangs up his horn. Don't panic, that's not a euphemism. Or even a euphonium.

Only five months to go before the next drug-infested farce celebration of the beauty of sport, so here's an Olympic Report: He'll be there. He might be there. She won't be there. And the rest may yet wish they weren't. Goodnight. <shuffles papers>
