The 18th Marquess of Winchester appears to have died (very) off radar in South Africa in 2016. I'm working on a source at the moment so his Wiki page can be updated.

Brendan Fraser has now been added to my longlist. From 90s hunk to 20s junk. Pictured first is Fraser in 1997, portraying George of the Jungle. Below are pics from his latest film "The Whale", where he appears to portray a slightly larger version of himself, in his latest bid of "but look guys I really can act". He's ballooned for this role (and he used a fat suit to enhance the look), but he's obese most of the time anyway, and unless he lays off the Krispy Kremes, I can see him dying before his 60s.

I can find no source on the web that backs this up, and I find it very hard to believe. Plus there's no evidence that Gene Alden (b. 1930) who played on "Tequila" with The Champs is dead. I'm away to scrub this from the Wiki page as it's unsourced anyway.

If you take the Arabic version of his name from Wiki and type it into Google, there is only one news source that comes up under that spelling of the name (and it looks like a pretty amateur news site). All the other hits from the past 24 hours are bot type sites. Also the editors on Arabic Wiki are generally pretty quick to add death dates and his page is unchanged. I think it's definitely mistaken identity. There are over 15000 members of the Saudi Royal Family, so it's not surprising that this happens often.

Do we know that he's ill?

Times obit for Ed Rudy, American radio broadcaster, who has died aged 93. Known for accompanying The Beatles during their first American tour. Dubbed "the Fifth Beatle" by Lennon at the time (and ofc one of quite a number of people to have been given that nickname!).

Turns out this is fake news, or at least a misunderstanding on Wikipedia. The source refers to Abdullah bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, an obscure member of the Royal Court. Not the brother of Salman.

Doing this properly seeing as the newb is struggling... American actress Lisa Loring (wiki) dead at 64. Suffered a massive stroke last week and her life support machine was turned off 4 days later. Best known for portraying Wednesday Addams in "The Addams Family" from 1964 to 1966. Hollywood Reporter obit. John Astin (wiki) who portrayed Gomez Addams is now the last surviving cast member. He turns 93 in March.

EDIT: never mind

We already have an obit so it's confirmed. According to the obit, he turned 80 last November, but Tommy Chong's tweet says he was "about to turn 80" so not sure who to believe – obscure media or a massive stoner? Hmmm

Cause of death given as pancreatic cancer. Surely very rare in centenarians?

Well that went well… she got cocky! As a wise prophet once said “not every mayor who lives to 101 will be 104”.

Individuals who are expected to die in 2023
Ulitzer95 replied to John "요한" Sulu's topic in Dead Pools
Well seeing as January is nearly over, I thought I'd mark your homework. "Don January (born November 20, 1929)" "Charles Peters (born December 22, 1926)" "Three individuals born in 1924" "An individual born in 1933 who just turned 90" -
To my surprise, got a Hollywood Reporter write up.

Could've sworn she had been mentioned on here before, but perhaps not as the search isn't returning anything. French film actress Micheline Gary (wiki) died on 25 December 2022, at the age of 97. Death record. -
If you haven't already submitted it yourself, can you please upload a screenshot here so I can ping it over to IMDb?

This definitely did not merit a BBC breaking news notification on my phone early. They've got a trigger happy intern sending those notifications right now. Is it you, Crem?
-
It’s actually fake news. The origin of this article is from a site called River City Post 2 days ago. The story is completely made up. Still funny tho.

Howard was the 2nd oldest Olympian known to be alive. Félix Sienra (b. 1916) is now the last known living Olympian born in the 1910s.

Some of the euphemisms they use in obituaries are hysterical. “Called home” and “promoted to glory” come to mind. It also amuses me how African Americans say “rest in power” on Twitter.

Nothing confusing about the obit that was posted.

Anne McLaughlin is the size of a bouncy castle (but nowhere near as fun) so no surprises there.

Yes. It's already been pointed out that the Grim Reaper is on his late January holidays. He goes every year and returns at some point in February.

I know that you're a slack jawed small town Yank who is uncultured and thick as pigshit, but even you must surely be able to decipher that "est décédée" = is deceased/dead.
