David Douglas-Home, 15th Earl of Home (wiki) reported dead on Twitter aged 78. Businessman and incumbent Conservative member of the House of Lords. The only son of former British Prime Minister Alec Douglas-Home (1903–1995). EDIT: Now confirmed by the House of Lords.

Updated for the death of Jerry Allison. A little shocked by this death. Allison was in an interview 5 years ago and looked very healthy for a 78 year old. By contrast, Jerry Lee Lewis looked like crap in the same documentary and he's still with us!

Looks like a botched correction to me. He wasn’t born in Calgary in 1908!

Confirmation from Pakistani media. Turns out he was 96, not 98. So born 1926, not 1924.

Tom Springfield Mail obit. Only took the British press 2 whole days to break it.

Rahimuddin Khan (wiki) being reported dead on Facebook at the age of 98. Very odd timing considering our conversation about him being off radar for the last decade but the source seems credible.

The UK’s oldest person, Ethel Caterham, turned 113 yesterday. The UK’s 2nd oldest person, Rose Eaton, turns 113 tomorrow. And the UK’s oldest man, John Tinniswood, turns 110 on Friday. Rose was still living independently a year ago, not sure about now. Ethel is in a home I believe.

Are you Joan Collins?

Tbf, whether you’re left or right, The Telegraph, Guardian and Times are all great publications. I’m subscribed to all three.

Virginia Patton (wiki), American actress turned businesswoman and one of the few surviving cast members of “It’s A Wonderful Life” (1946), dead at 97.

Updated entry for The Springfields following the death of Tom. Just Mike Hurst left now, who turns 80 next month.

What was your favourite Mildred Kornman movie from the 1920s and how many times have you seen it?

I do believe he was actually Ireland's oldest person. The holder of that title is now also a male, Matthew Crowley, born in May 1914. Very unusual to have two successive males holding a country's oldest living person title.

Singer and actress Helen Grayco (wiki) dead at 97. A unique DDP pick.

Isn’t Glynis Johns in a care home in the States?

Somehow we all missed this. Caren Marsh Doll from The Wizard of Oz celebrating her 103rd birthday back in April. She looks great!

I changed her birth year on Wiki. The obit was a near match (name, location and same birth date). The only variance was the birth year. I then went on Facebook and there's a picture of the funeral program, uploaded by friends/family several days ago. It clearly shows a picture of the jazz vocalist and the birth year is given as 1922.

You're about to get a big shock when you look at what the name of this thread is... -

There's lots of chat about it on Twitter and Facebook from people in that field, so it's not really in doubt IMO. -

Reddit thread of people mourning her death. Booth wrote the first assembly language, and therefore is arguably one of the most important women history in computing history. And yet, 6 days after her death, no obituary. -
As I thought they would, Catholic Hierarchy have now updated the profile for Chinese bishop Joseph Hou Guoyang (wiki) to say he is also deceased (without a date or year specified). This means that Mexican bishop José de Jesús Sahagún de la Parra (wiki), who turned 100 in January, is the only current centenarian bishop in the Roman Catholic Church. The second oldest is America's René Henry Gracida (wiki, b. June 1923).

Thanks. Spokeo previously had a residency profile for her in 2021. I see they've now removed the age, which usually indicates they've died. I'll update.

Updated. Brian Murphy is not the oldest – Barbara Young is (and she was actually older than Tewson by a few weeks).
