I predict the grim reaper is going to confound sceptics and be its most powerful yet like a super strong enema in 2024 moreso than recent years equalling or even beating 2020

What drol means is no obscure Indian or African politicians with inflated age claims have died, and that makes him disgruntled. -
Death notice for Ray Boyle (wiki), 98, American film and television actor and production designer. Cause of death given as COVID-19 elsewhere online. Often credited under the pseudonym Dirk London, he appeared in shows like Gunsmoke and The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp. There were rumours on the web in the past that he passed away some years ago so I guess this finally clears it up... Survived by his widow, the more notable actress Jan Shephard (wiki), who is 94 in March.

American scientist Jeremiah Stamler (wiki) dead at 102. Specialised in preventative cardiology. Not a DDP pick but he's on at least one person's Shadow List this year.
-
Probably wise timing from a perspective of the Democrats. If they lost the next presidential election and he was forced to retire then, it would leave the Supreme Court with just 2/9 justices appointed by the Democrats.
-
Nobody yet, but you said you thought he would last for quote "years". I don't.
-
Telegraph obit confirms he was born 28 Aug 1925 in Narberth, Pembrokeshire. Still fairly active in 2021 so I'm not shocked he wasn't picked in the DDP. His death leaves Stanley Baxter as the last panto dame born during that era. Not a panto "dame" as such but a stage regular and close friend of Stanley's... Una McLean is still about and just turned 92.

I don't agree that any of the individuals mentioned by Crem above should have their own threads but I don't agree with your argument. On the contrary, if they have their own thread you don't need to decide between various occupational threads as to where to post it.

My understanding was the animals were evacuated via private aircrafts, no?

50s is a tricky decade because in some instances I really don’t consider it to be old, and sometimes I do associate it as being “getting” old. Jennifer Anniston is 53 this year. She looks incredible. But most British men have long resigned from taking care of themselves by that point and they look like roast gammon. Edit: Christ. Just noticed that Brad Pitt is 60 next year?! How is that possible?

Yes you can. Many underlying conditions e.g. diabetes are manageable depending on how well you look after yourself. Those with less manageable conditions like cancer or those of an extreme age can shield, but that's up to them of course. I personally wouldn't want to do that because what kind of a life would that leave you? Agree with the last point to a degree, but they're both short-term focussed and that's been the problem during this whole pandemic. Govs haven't told ppl they need to improve their diets and exercise more. The UK Gov did their COVID-related anti-obesity campaign for a while (which included billboards across the country)... that all seems to have gone quiet again now that the PM doesn't seem to be doing his daily runs anymore and has once again ballooned.

Yes he died at 106. I think I last met him when he was 104 or so. I didn't realise how old he was at the time though!
-
My gran's uncle was still alive when I was still in my early years of primary school. He was 106 and one of the oldest men in Scotland at the time. Very lucid and sharp for his age too!

No it isn't. Whether or not someone has the vaccine isn't the only big determining factor to the severity of COVID in individuals, and this is what ppl seem to struggle with the most in understanding why most of us, vaccinated or unvaccinated, will suffer from the virus no more than we would a bad head cold. Underlying conditions is ofc the most obvious other factor. Past exposure to the virus, or similar viruses is another which is seldom discussed but so vital – in fact, even if you're the type of person who never gets colds then you're more at risk because of how badly your immune system will respond. Genetics is also a huge factor, as is ethnicity. So turns out he was jabbed and ppl are shocked that he still died. Why? I don't get that. On an aside, thanks to an FOI the other day, we now know that just ~18,000 of the ~171,000 COVID deaths in the UK (ONS figures) had no underlying conditions. Meanwhile, Boris and the media have constantly flung this "90% of people in hospital with COVID are unvaccinated" b/s. It was never as high as 90% – 74% at its peak, and it's currently 61% as per the British Medical Journal. So about 40% of the people still in hospital with COVID are jabbed... and folk would do well to absorb that. People need to get out their head that the vaccine is a magic bullet and will protect them from any risk of getting ill with COVID. Just simply isn't the case. It will help, I don't dispute that (though not as much as natural immunity), but if you're 50+ there's every chance you could fall pretty ill with it regardless.

French actress Etchika Choureau (wiki) dead at 92. Briefly married to Hassan II (1929–1999), who was King of Morocco from 1961 to 1999. -
Updated the entry for Meat Loaf. Here's a wee tribute from the Royal Guards at Buckingham Palace yesterday:

Don Johnson died in September 1965, aged just 44. Death record. Newspaper clipping. Means that Charley Trippi (b. 1921) is undoubtedly the oldest living NFL player, with the second oldest being Pete Wismann (b. 1923), and the third being Dub Jones (b. 1924).

Just a heads up OoO... as I long suspected, a number of the deaths from Q4 of 2019 were missing from the GRO. They appear to have been uploaded in the last few days along with the whole of 2020 e.g. British actor Godfrey James died in Oct 19, and his record has only just appeared there. May be worth your while checking that quarter again in the future at some point. -
I know there was some confusion over this because we couldn't find him in the GRO Index for 2019. As I long suspected, not all of the deaths from the last quarter of 2019 were in the GRO... until now. JAMES, GODFREY 1931 GRO Reference: DOR Q4/2019 in EAST SUSSEX (462-1A) Entry Number 519807101 Don't think anyone doubted Toby Hadoke, but still good to have secondary confirmation.

@Octopus of Odstock, I see Trevor Churchill is in there as you suspected. Any other new finds? -
Journo on Twitter reporting the death of Philadelphia mob boss Ralph Natale (wiki), aged 87. Supposedly the first mob boss to become an informant.

That's a data scraping site. It's clearly not written by a human. Look at the poor English used.
