And this is why I should stop taking Wikipedia at face value

It’s her 102nd birthday on Saturday, so assuming someone remembers, you hear about her again. -
I think that's an auto generated/bot site. Quite worrying that these websites are starting to look more and more like genuine news sources.

Updated for the death of Bob Fish. Surprised there is no media coverage yet. Given that they had 6 top 10 hits, I'd have expected this one to be Mirror, Sun and Mail territory.
-
Updated for the death of Don Everly. Sad news to wake up to as another iconic 50s act gone after Bill Haley & His Comets last week.

Ah ok, didn’t realise he had the vaccine. I just presumed he didn’t as most hospitalised with COVID haven’t!

Has Parkinson’s disease (since at least 2017) and turns 80 in October. Surely he’s a goner?

I doubt anyone here is qualified to give an answer on this. Interesting stuff though. Send it to the GRG / Dr. Robert Young via their site. I'd be surprised if they weren't already looking at this case though.

Dead on her Wiki page. Petty vandalism?

This video gives a fascinating insight into just how unusual a woman commercial pilot was 50 years ago. -

British inventor of the pornstar martini cocktail, Douglas Ankrah, dead. -
Interesting. Thanks for posting. It’s likely that when we reach the stage of there being few WWII veterans left, it will be like the scenario we were faced with 10 years ago when we had “unverified WWI veterans”. A sad situation but unavoidable given the time and circumstances. Whilst we’re here though, the legend who is Frederick Forsyth. A very sound Eurosceptic Tory and yet someone who adamantly opposed the War in Iraq and called for Blair to be put on trial. A man of principle after my own heart. Hasn’t written a novel since 2018. 83 next week and heavily overweight. A good shout for next year I reckon.

You said it was "scary". I don't think most people <60 have much to fear if they look after themselves.

I think I'm right in saying that there is no heir so this title now becomes extinct? There will have to be a Labour peers by-election to replace him. Be interesting to see who they put up.

“Cecilia” has been paying her tributes to both Sean Lock and Austin Mitchell on Twitter. One more death today may push her over the edge.

Gest had a £500 a day coke habit, and had a cocktail of barbiturates in his system at the time he was found dead from a stroke. Pretty sure Fisher had illicit drugs in her system at the time of her heart attack. Goody had a cancer scare before her diagnosis and missed a key smear test that could've saved her.

Seeing as Never Mind the Buzzcocks will be returning later this year for a new series, and given that Sean Lock just died, here's a list of the goners from the original 1996–2015 run. Guest hosts: Cilla Black Dale Winton (also a guest) Terry Wogan (also a guest) Team captains: Sean Hughes Guests: Stuart Adamson (Big Country) Pete Burns (Dead or Alive) Keith Chegwin Ian Dury John Entwistle (The Who) Caroline Flack David Gest Gordon Haskell (King Crimson) Geoffrey Hayes Vic Henley Chas Hodges (Chas & Dave) Neil Innes Jon Lee (Feeder) Lemmy (Motorhead) Lil' Chris Sean Lock Kenny Lynch Kirsty MacColl Les McKeown (Bay City Rollers) Ian McLagan (Small Faces) Gary Moore (Thin Lizzy) Bernie Nolan Nicholas Parsons Pete Shelley (Buzzcocks) Alvin Stardust Steve Strange (Visage) Peter Stringfellow Tommy Vance Tony Wilson Amy Winehouse I think that's everyone.

I disagree. With the exception of Lock, all of their deaths were avoidable.

This death is quite reminiscent of Sean Hughes in 2017, and Jeremy Hardy in 2019. Dead 8 Out of 10 Cats participants: Team captains: Sean Lock Guests: Tara Palmer-Tomkinson Jade Goody Joan Rivers Nikki Grahame David Gest Peaches Geldof Carrie Fisher Seems about right considering it's been running since 2005 and has had 232 episodes to date.

Trying to deliver a pun using "8 Out of 10 Cats" and coming up with nothing here...

Finally some confirmation. The Lunar and Planetary Institute have put an obit up for Shoemaker.

That's a bot generated site. Here's a link from AmericanBluesScene.com for confirmation. According to FB posts, he died on the morning of the day before his birthday (12th) so must've died on 11th. His year of birth varies online (1934 or 1937) but the birth records confirm he was born 1937, so he was 83: Name Roy James Gaines III Birth Aug 1937 Residence 1976-2020 Los Angeles, California, USA Worth noting that his brother was blues saxophonist Grady Gaines (wiki), who died in January aged 86. Here's a pic of Roy and Grady, with blues guitarist Clarence Holliman (1937–2000): The other three names credited on the sleeve are all deceased: Joe Medwick (1931–1992), Teddy Reynolds (1931–1998) and Big Robert Smith (1939–2006).
