Bloody gutted by this news. Wonder if TCM will revise their tribute to include him? They did this for Zsa Zsa and Carrie Fisher.

Another Joe Meek act... another blank. According to a recent Wiki edit, Sounds Incorporated guitarist Barrie Cameron (birth name Barrie Cameron-Elmes; also known as Baz Elmes) died on 11th November 2019, aged 80. Can't find anything on FB, Twitter, Google. Doesn't show up in the GRO Index, but then I'm aware that there are still records missing from there for the last quarter of 2019.

Updated entry for the death of Algerian-French novelty singer Alberto Staiffi (real name Albert Darmon). Died off radar in February. When I compiled this list originally I knew he was alive as late as 2018 and in his 90s as per his own site. It said he was living in Montpellier. That death notice is definitely him – says the individual was born in Algeria, and died in Sète, which is in Montpellier. There are also RIP comments on YouTube but surprisingly, no French obit.

John Provenzano, guitarist for Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs (wiki), died September 30th aged 71. Joined in 1966, just as the hits were drying up. Such is life.

I think he has good days and bad days but I agree, I don’t think he’ll necessarily go next year.
-
He’s not restanding, and he’s suffering from an undisclosed illness as I’ve mentioned here before.

Entry updated for the death of Mike Sagar aged 79 way back in June. Yorkshire post obit.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

You keeping getting this wrong, so I will try and explain this thread in the most simple terms possible... You notice on Wikipedia that someone is listed as having died. Does it have a source attached or can you find a reputable report on Google to back it up as true? If YES: Post it in the appropriate thread according to their notability (eg actors, chefs, football etc etc). If NO: Post it in here. -
Hmm Philbin didn't have a career in film though according to this. Just appeared as himself in cameos, which doesn't count. Alex Trebek was included because he hosted TCM ceremonies over many years.

So Peggy Mitchell did get snubbed in the end, cos at least two others who died after her were included. To be fair to TCM, excellent job as per usual. It's really hard to include everyone. Though they did 81 names this year, 90 last year. I feel that they try to fit it around the chosen song a little too much? They should aim for 90–100. I watched the video then went to this page on Wiki. It's easy to pick out a few notable omissions. Here are the names I feel could have been included: Anna Karina, Bond girls Claudine Auger and Margaret Nolan, composer Jerry Herman, Syd Mead, Edd Byrnes, Robert Conrad, Marge Redmond, Lynn Cohen, Michael Medwin, Boys in the Band screenwriter Mart Crowley, Terrence McNally, Hilary Dwyer, James Drury, Disney animator Ann Sullivan, Sam Lloyd, child actor Jon Whiteley (Oscar winner), Richard Herd, Mary Pat Gleason, screenwriter Lewis John Carlino (Oscar winner), Linda Cristal, Earl Cameron, Zizi Jeanmaire, Out of Africa screenwriter Kurt Luedtke (won an Oscar), The Pianist screenwriter Sir Ronald Harwood (Oscar winner), Maurice Roeves, Barbara Jefford, Helen Reddy, Frank Windsor, Conchata Ferrell, Gandhi costume designer Bhanu Athaiya (the first Indian person to win an Oscar!), Geoffrey Palmer, Warren Berlinger and Barbara Windsor Of those, I think Zizi Jeanmaire is the biggest cock up.

People Who Are Dead According To Wikipedia...

Boot Hill have picked it up, as has this Spanish cinema blog. Still not decent enough in my eyes. Waiting for something to pop up on Legacy or Tucson.com. I've given up trying to depend on the Hollywood Reporter. They're slow these days. -
Seems odd on the face of it. I've just had a look at Scotland's People and can't find her birth certificate either, but I learnt through doing my research on the UK Singles Chart thread that some people have their birth registered under the mother's maiden name for whatever reason (e.g. a divorce or estrangement of the father). That may account for why it doesn't show up under Marquis. There are a lot of people called "Mary Elizabeth" or "Elizabeth Mary" born on the west coast of Scotland in 1937. Likely that certificate is staring me square in the eye. A mother's maiden name for her may help crack it, and it may also unearth her marriage certificate.

Interesting. Honestly, the GRO Index really needs to be updated to December 2020. I've got so many people to look up but from what I've heard they don't have any current plans to extend it past early December 2019.

Ernest Nee (or Nii) Pobee Sowah. Also travelled a lot between the UK (Liverpool and London) and Takoradi in Ghana. Married Elsie Mabel Atta Djabanor (b. 1924) in Westminster, London in 1951. They had a residence in Willesden East, London in 1954. Can't find any trace of them after that. Must have returned to Ghana. Could be alive I suppose.

Edmund Bannerman is in the Possibly Living category on Wiki. That needs changed because I found his death: Name: Edmund Alexander Languaye Bannerman Death Date: 27 Jun 1983 Death Place: Accra in Ghana Probate Date: 6 Feb 1984 Probate Registry: London 27 Jun 1983 in Accra, but Probate was registered in London for whatever reason. Ancestry shows that he traveled a lot between the UK and Ghana. I'll have a look for Sowah later.

I seem to recall that this cancer thing was an Internet hoax, started on Wiki or some forum. Also, according to his son, he's about 8 years younger than the DOB passed around online for him. So might "only" be ~88 next year.

And now Earl Hutto (wiki), Representative from Florida (1979–1995) is dead at 94.

This guy I'm curious to know more about. He's 95 next year. Was a part of Ted Heath's orchestra, playing trumpet; and probably the only Scottish jazz musician born in the 1920s who's still with us? He was also married to Elvis Presley's cousin(!), June. She died in 2010. Campbell then moved to Weymouth in 2011 to live with his daughter Karen. (I'm quoting his Wiki page here but I assume it's accurate). Any trace of him since? Do we think he will obit or die off radar?

I hope the DDP is paying you for all this excellent research! I knew Brown was dead, because I have him on my Wiki watchlist and saw when the page was updated for his death. The source used on the page is Who'sWho/WhoWasWho, a very useful tool for uncovering deaths of any British politicians, bishops, businesspeople, military figures etc. I have a library card login there, so if anyone wants access then DM me! Bishops are tricky, and I would argue careless DDP picks. They seldom get a QO unless they were particularly known for something. Most just get local obits or death notices posted by their respective diocese. In this case though, Brown got absolutely nada!
