    The Dead Of 2017

That means all 4 of the deserters are now dead. Seems that all of them bar Jenkins had relatively short and miserable lives. Quelle dommage.

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2018

Janie Jones is still about I see. Though not sure of the state of her health. British murderer Sidney Cooke will be 91 next year. Surely an appropriate replacement for Brady?

    2018 Names for 2018

I started. Got to about 750 and about 10 of those names have died since. I think the rules need to be elaborated otherwise we’re going to have a lot of problems with this. IE a team must have at least 10 subs, a clear criteria of notability must exist and in cases where names are common (eg the old Liz Smith problem), people have to list year of birth and/or profession. I also don’t think I’ll have the time to order the list from least likely to die at 1. to most likely at 2018. That’s a big ask. A better points scoring system would be 1st hit = one point, 2nd hit = 2 points etc or one similar to DDP where points are determined by age of the deceased.

Who Should Be On The 2018 Deathlist?

Aznavour and Giscard d’Estaing seem to be in good health for their age. Cardin is older but again, not particularly frail. Chirac is a safer bet. The others don’t feel like they belong on DeathList.

List updated. Thanks to msc, Grim Up North and ebless for helping! Decided to keep it limited to born in the 1920s or before... didn't realise so many were still about in all fairness! Mind you, suppose I was stereotyping footballers in my head according to the type of lifestyle many of them live nowadays. It's easy to forget that a lot of these early players weren't on huge pay, generally had shorter careers and didn't drink themselves to death once their playing days ceased.

Turns out George Haigh (b. June 1915) isn't the oldest surviving professional footballer. Arthur Smith (b. May 1915) is. Article from April 2017 about Smith here. So in terms of British players I guess it looks like 1) Arthur Smith (b. May 1915) Bury, Leicester City 2) George Haigh (b. June 1915) Stockport County, Rochdale, Lancaster City 3) Ivor Broadis (b. Dec 1922) Carlisle, Sunderland, Man City, Newcastle, Queen of the South Bizarrely I can't find any players alive in between. Surely somebody must know of some?

    Law And Order

According to this page, there are now no living peers 100+ with the deaths of both Lord Longford and Lord Hutchinson over the past day: http://www.leighrayment.com/reppeers/peerrecords.htm Incidentally, Lord Longford was the oldest peer ever at 105. Oldest peer is now Derek Barber, 99 (retired from the House of Lords in 2016). He will turn 100 in June 2018. Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Barber,_Baron_Barber_of_Tewkesbury

Who Should Be On The 2018 Deathlist?

The article about Daniel arap Moi’s health states that he’s no longer able to recognise the people around him. I’ll give him 6 months.

Who Should Be On The 2018 Deathlist?

Daniel arap Moi, former Kenyan President has Alzheimer’s and is 95 next year. Easy hit... Also, I think Michael Martin, former Speaker is a good punt. He’s taken a leave of absence from the Lords, is in his 70s and quite heavy.

    Astronauts

I saw it before I posted it, but I took the liberty of mentioning him because they were both involved in the same mission, which wasn’t included in your post because Gordon hadn’t died yet. Obviously. Are you pissed because I didn’t quote you Joey? I’m sorry. **All credit to Joey Russ for reporting the death of Paul Weitz.** Happy?

    Aristocrats

According to this link (3rd from the top), Sir Roger Moon, died last month. He was just short of 103 and the oldest living baronet. The oldest living is now Sir Hereward Wake, who is 101. http://www.leighrayment.com/updateboard1.htm Wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_baronets Not explicitly stated, but I presume this baronetcy is now extinct as it doesn't look like there is an heir.
