Just checked his Wiki and he's 78 next year, to my surprise. Including the current Home Secretary, there are 18 living individuals who have held that office. Almost enough for a DDP theme team! Half of them are aged 70+... Douglas Hurd (94), Kenneth Baker (90), Ken Clarke (84), Michael Howard (83), Jack Straw (78), David Blunkett (77), John Reid (77), Charles Clarke (74), Alan Johnson (74). I wouldn't be surprised if we lost a couple of these by the end of 2025. Both Ken Clarke and Charles Clarke (no relation to our non-British friends) have always struck me as prime heart attack territory. Douglas Hurd has lasted a long time... 95 in March, not seen in public anymore. Should be on the Deathlist next year.

Polish 2024 Paralympic wheelchair fencer Michał Dąbrowski (wiki) dead at 38. Took home both a silver and bronze medal from Paris in August, despite suffering from bile duct cancer. Pretty remarkable.

He looks horrendous. I would expect Tinniswood to outlive him, but who knows.

Ruth Maguire, 48, SNP MSP for Cunninghame South. Cervical cancer. First diagnosed in May 2021, but cancer has since returned. Save others the click @drunkasaskunk.

She got a full obituary here.

Olav Thon (wiki), Norwegian billionaire real estate developer, dead at 101. First wife died in 2018, so he got remarried in 2019 (as you do). No children, so presumably Anna Nicole Thon will inherit everything.

Let's just pretend. It's funnier this way. -
Clickbait. Saw him on the TV the other day with his missus. Looks as fit as someone can be for his age. He’s paranoid about his longevity because he was ill in the 90s. Doesn’t mean it will return anytime soon.

That’s 4 of her siblings now dead, but she has 7 others so shouldn’t affect her too badly. -
Thanks. I'm going to update all the ones on your list that don't use SWDB as a source. If you can find alternative sources for the ones that do use SWDB, feel free to DM them to me and I'll get those pages updated also.

Gisooo are you absolutely sure about Tullio Altamura? Here is the death notice for the Tulio Altamura who died on 6 June 2005. It was added to his Wikipedia years ago with no evidence of it being the actor – we debated it at the time, and decided it likely wasn't him. In fact, the obituary says "Altamura Tullio Rome, June 7, 2005 On June 6, 2005, Tullio Altamura passed away Journalist His wife Rossana, his sons Gianni and Guido, and his brother Roberto announced his passing. The burial will take place on June 7, 2005 at the Verano cemetery" Why does the obituary not state actor? Instead it says journalist. There is no evidence anywhere that he was also a journalist. He retired from acting aged 65 (standard retirement age). To then become a journalist at 65 is virtually unheard of. I do not think this is the same man. In any case, I can't update the Wiki pages for any of the names where you've stated SWDB as the source. It was recently agreed on the talk page for Deaths in 2024 that it isn't reliable because it's essentially just another Wiki. They seem to accept any tips that people send them without questioning.

That was very weak.

I actually think there's a good chance of Tyson winning tonight.

Just 7 days after her 110th. I did wonder why there was no birthday interview given how active she had been in recent years. Being a supercentenarian ain't for everyone.
-
Not really. There's been a published obituary up for her that entire time. It even says she was a Playboy model in it. That's not "off radar". That's just nobody bothered to check (yourself included).

I’ll be visiting the GRO Index in person within the next week or so. Their death index goes up to June 2024. If anyone has any names they’d like me to check, please write them here or DM them to me. Please note that looking at the index in person uses a very old fashioned machine, not a computer, so it’s time consuming. As such, I’d prefer it if ppl only gave me maximum 3 names each.

Followed by a spot of mountain biking with Princess Yuriko. On social media people say that the Christmas season “officially” starts when you first hear “All I Want For Christmas” on the radio, but on here it seems to be when Le Pen is rumoured dead.

From the 1948 Olympians table, Britain's Glyn Hopkins (wiki) died in 2023 aged 94–95 as per the backend of the GRO Index. Edit: Found a death/funeral notice.

The NHS also stop feeding people who they know are on their way out, even if they're still conscious. Also something that's never spoken about. A relative of mine went to see a friend in her mid-90s several weeks ago. She was frail but conscious and speaking as normal. Hospital were not feeding her properly. Every time she visited she brought her a decent meal and she'd perk up. They need the beds at the end of the day but I think it's really immoral.

Just as well I quit smoking then!
