I'll start with this one! Gold mine – added all their DOBs. Charlie Brennan... so Wiki says for their Eurovision performance in Paris they added him as a drummer. He's listed as a member on there, but not on Rate Your Music or Discogs. Now on the album and record covers. Some of them (presumably taken beforehand just feature five of them, but the accompanying album has six faces as do some versions of the single). The jury's out here. What do you think, a member or should I scrub him and add a note underneath?

The Collins Complete UK Hit Singles book seems to think this is the Scottish country band Colorado (later called Caledonia), fronted by Geordie Jack – not true! NB2: Joe Malbo (aka Pinuccio Pirazzoli) is credited as the arranger of the track. In the TOTP performance, he's playing the guitar so likely he played on the record too. Interesting. The BBC obit says he was 84, not 81. There was a 1936 DOB for him floating around online but the 1939 one seemed to be more commonly favoured. I can see where the confusion has arisen from. It's the GRO Index: SPENCER, David R. b. 1936 (2nd quarter), Monmouthshire. Mother maiden name: LEWIS SPENCER, David E. b. 1939 (2nd quarter), Monmouthshire. Mother maiden name: LEWIS Seeing as the Beeb spoke to his agent, likely the first one is correct.

Now that is interesting! I did some searching and discovered that she was a part of the doo-wop scene in the States (acting as a featured vocalist with group The Impossibles) before landing on the disco scene. A comment I saw online suggested that she couldn't have been any older than 12 when recording on their biggest hit which charted on Billboard in 1961! There are several Linda Carrs listed as deceased on Ancestry born around the late 40s who could be her. Maybe one we'll never solve though as it seems she sadly disappeared into obscurity. Highwire is a great tune... didn't realise this is where the structure of "One Night in Heaven" by M People came from!

Cheers. Found four of them in the GRO – all born in Liverpool North district. Seems they knocked a year off of all of their ages in that article and it's definitely Nunnen rather than Nunnery, that must be a typo. Can't find Andy Ball but assuming the same rule of –1 year applies, I've put "c. 1950" for now.
