I read that she had died....
-
Haakon Lie, who was head of the Norwegian Labour Party from the 1940s until the late 60s has died aged 103.......
If Gordon Brown lives that long..... oh dear.....
-
Yep exactly two weeks today, what's even more amazing is out of all the other supercentenarians verified by GRG, he probably looks the most frail but he's still managing to hold on, whereas some of the more "healthy looking" individuals are going all the time....
He will make 113, and no doubt they'll be a news report on the BBC... well deserved Henry.... he does face stiff competition from Tomoji Tanabe (the world's oldest man) though - he shows no signs of slowing down and stated recently that he wanted to go on for another 10 years!!
-
GRG have now confirmed the death of E. Beatrice Riley..... took a while though
-
Anybody found a link for Bea Riley yet?
-
In case there was any lingering doubt about removing her from the DL, she appeared on The Daily Show today looking as healthy as anyone without cancer. She claimed that she'd be able to create a universal health care plan that was better than Canada's without raising taxes and without having long waiting lines. Then she'll solve the energy crisis by distributing flying unicorns for us all to ride. The American's probably would be able to afford a socialist healthcare system without raising taxes - all they'd have to do is half their bloody spending on defence!

According to Wikipedia, E. Beatrice Riley, Australia's oldest person has died but this information has suddenly appeared without any verification...... hmmm

You're a month too late mate...

Found a suitable obituary for Tom Buckley. No obit yet for Levy Cardoso though... I really doubt there will be one.
-
Waldemar Levy Cardoso has died aged 108. He was the last surivivng field marshal from the Brazilian Army serving in WWII and he was also one of two surviving WWI-ERA veterans still alive. This now makes Josef Kowalski of Poland the last surviving WWI-era veteran and brings the world total for veterans (including Douglas Terrey's claim of being a veteran) down to 8. -
Wow the deaths sure are slowing down... I suppose this is the consequence of having a busy April...

Here's the poem James Kirkup was charged under the old blasphemy laws for (after Mary Whitehouse brought the charges against him)....
The Love That Dares To Speak Its Name
By James Kirkup
As they took him from the cross
I, the centurion, took him in my arms-
the tough lean body
of a man no longer young,
beardless, breathless,
but well hung.
He was still warm.
While they prepared the tomb
I kept guard over him.
His mother and the Magdalen
had gone to fetch clean linen
to shroud his nakedness.
I was alone with him.
For the last time
I kissed his mouth. My tongue
found his, bitter with death.
I licked his wound-
the blood was harsh
For the last time
I laid my lips around the tip
of that great cock, the instrument
of our salvation, our eternal joy.
The shaft, still throbbed, anointed
with death's final ejaculation
I knew he'd had it off with other men-
with Herod's guards, with Pontius Pilate,
With John the Baptist, with Paul of Tarsus
with foxy Judas, a great kisser, with
the rest of the Twelve, together and apart.
He loved all men, body, soul and spirit. - even me.
So now I took off my uniform, and, naked,
lay together with him in his desolation,
caressing every shadow of his cooling flesh,
hugging him and trying to warm him back to life.
Slowly the fire in his thighs went out,
while I grew hotter with unearthly love.
It was the only way I knew to speak our love's proud name,
to tell him of my long devotion, my desire, my dread-
something we had never talked about. My spear, wet with blood,
his dear, broken body all open wounds,
and in each wound his side, his back,
his mouth - I came and came and came
as if each coming was my last.
And then the miracle possessed us.
I felt him enter into me, and fiercely spend
his spirit's finbal seed within my hole, my soul,
pulse upon pulse, unto the ends of the earth-
he crucified me with him into kingdom come.
-This is the passionate and blissful crucifixion
same-sex lovers suffer, patiently and gladly.
They inflict these loving injuries of joy and grace
one upon the other, till they dies of lust and pain
within the horny paradise of one another's limbs,
with one voice cry to heaven in a last divine release.
Then lie long together, peacefully entwined, with hope
of resurrection, as we did, on that green hill far away.
But before we rose again, they came and took him from me.
They knew not what we had done, but felt
no shame or anger. Rather they were glad for us,
and blessed us, as would he, who loved all men.
And after three long, lonely days, like years,
in which I roamed the gardens of my grief
seeking for him, my one friend who had gone from me,
he rose from sleep, at dawn, and showed himself to me before
all others. And took me to him with
the love that now forever dares to speak its name.

Came across a report by the BBC on the last war-time MP, Ernest Millington (93).He is the last remaining MP elected prior to the 1945 election (post-war), of which there are four remaining former MPs.... Millington, Michael Foot (95), John Freeman MBE (94) and Francis Noel-Baker (89).
Millington has just died according to the BBC.....

He will not live when his next reelection in 2012 comes up. I have no problem with a Democrat that drops dead who has been a Socialist for forty plus years. The Senate needs new blood!Who would you have fill his shoes? A crazy one-eyed hillbilly Republican? What, like our crazy one-eyed Scotsman?
Well they're very respected in the US... probably due to amount of travelling they do across the country and the countless events they attend. Let's be honest how many of us are going to be attending festivals and conventions when we're in our late 80s/early 90s??I was surprised by all the news reports on this munchkin's death.I'm thinking, "Who the f*** cares?"
Must've been a very slow day for news.
I think the fact that they're dwarfs also makes interesting reading for an obituary... dwarfs don't usually live very long due the they're organs being closely compacted and thus giving them a crap immune system....
-
yes, but worse

Additionally, there are four remaining former MPs from the 1950 election: Freeman, Foot, Reader Harris (95) and Robert Carr (92).
All possibilites for 2010 but I doubt all of them will make it until next year... Foot should do though...

Who?Samantha Orobator, up the duff and in the sh*t in Laos. Apparently pupped in the penitentiary, suggesting their interrogation techniques put Gene Hunt to shame. Likely to get mucho publicity for a short while at least. I mean, if they spared her till she'd sprogged and saw her off after that, it'd be very timely as a CPDP pick. -
Pop the corks....30 years ago today Maggie the Great assumed her rightful office....Looks like it's going to be a lonely party grobler....

Strangely enough I've heard of him... he was performing in Vegas when I went there a few years ago... plus he was parodied on MXC (American dubbed Takeshi's Castle)
