I hope everyone had a nice Xmas. Spare a thought for my cousin in Connecticut who works at the refunds desk at Toys R Us...

If your prospective team for the coming year is anything to go by he'll be dead by dawn...

The Next Piper At The Gates Of Heaven

Indeed. I have what I'm 95% sure is a unique pick and I'm repeatedly refreshing his Facebook fanpage to see if he's going to make it to the start line. Ray Collins, original vocalist for the Mothers of Invention, has caused me to go back to my Google Document notes file swearing aged 75. Death is indeed a bastard... -

Merry Christmas DeathList from The Derby Dead Pool... -
Fair enough. 195 teams have been registered so far. A couple of interesting picks but a I get the feeling there will be a lot more to come as the big guns are keeping their powder dry...
-
Normally people post their teams after January 1st. Don't want anyone nicking your ideas, eh?

TBH I had to Google quite a few of those names...! Glitter's up there, surely?

Know Your Rights! -
Aye, Claudius...

No, no. What I meant to say that if was ever to enter DDP, he's probably come up with a decent team...
-
Very good point. If there was a celebrity that indulged in the Deathlist my money would be on Richard Osman. He'd probably come up with a good team an' all...
-
Well I got it. I wasn't going to send individual confirmation emails as that takes up time, however I will send a mass email to the ones who have entered so far before Xmas and one after Jan 1st for the later arrivals...

Too old for him, surely?
-
I dunno when 'Pointless' celebrities gets recorded but she looked chipper with her sister Linda on the programme today...

Nearer My God To Thee Hmmm nothing. That thing popping could well be the default Outlook. although I did have an issue with it the other day. Send an email with the mail service you're using to ddp2013@derbydeadpool.co.uk

If there really is a God, it'll be worth witnessing the end of the World, just to see the look on Richard Dawkins' face!

Which team was that then?

That's possible as in impossible, I'd say. My prediction: a short prison sentence. regards, Hein Yes, I've seen this happen too many times. Media get all excited about possible execution, as they do when some TV/Pop star "may" get a prison term for some minor offence and surprise, surprise...they get a fine or something. And they wonder in these post-Levenson times what the public's problem is with them...

It doesn't matter, he's a miss...

Looked in great shape on Pointless today, can't believe he's 89. Better than his partner Rick Wakeman, anyway. Sounds as good as ever too, judging by the Wonga adverts... -
He is, but the man who didn't make it as a SCOTUS, Robert H. Bork, has died - http://swampland.tim...e-history-dies/ A miss...
-
His name came up inevitably among the DDP entries today and I thought of 'Wichita Lineman'. What a great song that is...
-
Looks like he'll be taking the last train home. I have to say, I never really liked that band. There was something about them that was a bit...I dunno...odd...

When was the last time the World's oldest person was male?

Confirmed and a British obituary turns up straight away. Another name to be scratched off the 2013 entry forms. Which I have to update on the main database, then update on the 2012 database, then update on the images folder (to make red), then update on all the previous years pages to say he died in 2012, then update on my excel spreadsheet for DDP 2013 and if necessary replace with subs and contact the team if he was a joker. Then... you the rest... The things I do for death... Yeah, but it's all worth it when you see the smile on The Living End's face at the end of the year. Yes it is like that Gary Lineker quote about football, 180 stiffs and The Living End win at the end! Which is remarkable, really when you think about it. 180 scoring deaths an TLE is still at the top. Fantastic performance. The Ray Reardon of dead pooling...
