All I remember of the Flashing Blade was the re-dubbed versions on a kids programme in the late-80s.

Is the Doctor Who companion curse about to strike again?
-
Guess he's flying through the air now on his way to collect his harp. not flying. I know, but he'd hardly be walking to heaven (I know, I know probably no such place,) so that's why I put in flying. Why not, it's only three steps, isn't it? Hang on, isn't Heaven a place on Earth?

That was a bit unexpected...

Saw him on Breakfast telly this morning. Hmmm...looks like a wig to me.

Saffron Lane is one of the worst areas of Leicester (but it has a lot of competition) Or "the Saff" as we call it. Boy, does it have competition...

''The truth '' Pigs pissed on dead farmer and sons , stole their wallets while they lay dead in slurry . Then revealed 23 years later that it was complete lie all along...and the police did it!

Bullshit. There are pictures of Stevens being carried to the hospital by Libyans and his pants are on and buckled. Unless the mob had the decency to put his pants back on after the deed, this is just neo-conservative scare tactics. Do you reckon there might be the whiff of black ops about this, with 2 months until the Presidential election? Because I certainly do. We still don't know who is behind this "film", do we?

The real gripe I have about the Independent's obits is that the link is too fecking long! Not enough space in the database for it to go in... Let's see who's watching: Ellen Riley!

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/alf-pearson-singer-who-moved-successfully-from-music-hall-and-variety-to-radio-and-television-8120614.html Came in this morning. That's another one for the theme team!
-
Well, I've no idea if The Man In Black has already seen the obit, but just in case he hasn't - http://www.guardian....rticle/10416942 They never show up on Google you know!
-
I suppose it does count but like you I'm very surprised this hasn't been publicised or at least a proper obit. The Daily Mail are bastards for that type of thing. They'll go on about someone dying of some disease, often a mother or unusually young, but when they actually kick the bucket, they don't follow it up, like it doesn't matter any more. In many ways that's more callous than we are. At least we give some notice. That's settled then, McDowell will have his obit, from the DDP!

Blimey. I saw them a couple of weeks ago at the Rewind festival. Well, I say "saw", I heard them in the distance as I was dozing in one of the rare bits of shade to be found. "Starship" are something of a Trigger's Broom of a band. Nothing's gonna stop him now. Except blah etc. That would make a good pub quiz question - name five Trigger's Broom bands. Well, of course there's the ultimate franchise group, Sugababes. And probably quite a few US R&B/soul bands like the Drifters and the Coasters. Not forgetting Trigger's Broom themselves, who are probably playing the Flying Saucer in Hempstead any time soon. Aren't any of the Four Tops the original Four Tops anymore?

No wonder there are so feckin' many in the DDP...

Interesting. Oh well, the rules are the rules...

Photojournalist Malcolm Browne has died aged 81. That's a unique hit for Lt. Colonel Kilgore's Ultimate Surf Party.

Apart from Edwina Curry? Thatcher was a three-term warmongerer, who ignored a declining industrial base in favour of the City of London, so Tony Blair wanted to be like Thatcher. And David Cameron...
