    The Dead Of 2009

Probably not. There are also rumours that Harrison Ford has died on Twitter. People are just getting over excited. What, whilst actually ON it? That's the price you pay for getting down with the kids I suppose..

Surely Jacko is about as popular as six foot of mud at Glasto? Don't you believe it mate. What were those poshos and indie types listening to when they were kiddywinkles? QED...

    The Dead Of 2009

It couldn't be possible, 3 in a day...was there ever 2(REAL CELEB'S) in a day prior to today? Hey, are the Aussie's in today? 6/25 or are they a day ahead/ behind? To be fair, Jeff Goldblum rather lags behind Jackson and Fawcett. Now if Harrison Ford was to croak it...then we'd have meltdown!

God, he must have took the news about Michael Jackson, pretty badly...

    Michael Jackson

Good to see some parts of the media have principles. Though the BBC have allegedly confirmed it, the wording of their reports seems oddly non-committal with lots of "reports say" and 'is dead' rather than just saying he is dead. Guardian are rather more blunt...

Wow!! A 2 For 1, One Day Sale!!! Mj & Ff

Yes, you are our lucky charm. A few weeks ago, one or two were grumbling about not much happening on this site...

    Michael Jackson

Somewhat crass to say but it's probably the second biggest news story this decade other than 9/11. Well it was going to happen sooner or later. You couldn't really imagine him as a doddering old man, breaking his hip as he tries to moonwalk... His life ended with an arrest, a Cardiac Arrest, which is probably just as well...

Well that's put a bit of a downer of Glastonbury hasn't it? I wonder if Bruce Springsteen or Neil Young will perform any Jacko songs as a tribute? Actually, they ALL fekin will won't they? Even Blur...

    Michael Jackson

I thought I wouldn't be too bothered about it, but, I'm a bit upset. I don't have any of his albums, but some of his songs were great (Billie Jean, Don't Stop Till You Get Enough..etc) and he absolutely dominated the 80s pop cultural landscape I grew up in. You would have to have lived in a cave not to have heard of him.

Yep, I remember Elvis croaking. I think this is far bigger, Jacko was a worldwide phenomenon. Someone I sort of grew up with has gone, it questions your own mortality. Of course Elvis was World famous in Memphis... Poor Farrah Fawcett. Croaks it, tributes start to roll in about her being a 70s icon, hours later, coverage will be obliterated by the biggest 80s icon of the lot... Life (and Death) is timing...

I wasn't old enough to remember Elvis croaking, but is pretty much next in line. There will be a hell of a lot of upset people... RIP Jacko...

Just reported on BBC Radio 5 that Jacko has been rushed to hospital - no other details there at the moment - interesting... Surely not another big death missed by DL 2009? The biggest of them all....

    The Dead Of 2009

I considered him for the DDP this year. I was only reading an article from him a couple of days ago about the legendarily awful US-based Irish football commentator Tommy Smyth. Seemed to have an unhealthy hatred for The Smiths/Morrissey. Basically he was born white and he didn't like that one bit... Glad you didn't follow through as I think that gives me and my alterego an additional 3 points unique pick bonus. Ah, so you're Now that's What I Call SIGNIFICANT 2009! You're having a good debut... Swells was a 'the World is sh*t, I say it's sh*te' type of journo. A sort of left wing Julie Burchill...

Or alternatively, learning about his recent illness in the Ideas and Possibilities thread the hour before... Sky Saxon dead Bloody hell, that was quick. Feels peeky, diagnosis, dead!
