I thought I wouldn't be too bothered about it, but, I'm a bit upset. I don't have any of his albums, but some of his songs were great (Billie Jean, Don't Stop Till You Get Enough..etc) and he absolutely dominated the 80s pop cultural landscape I grew up in. You would have to have lived in a cave not to have heard of him.

Yep, I remember Elvis croaking. I think this is far bigger, Jacko was a worldwide phenomenon. Someone I sort of grew up with has gone, it questions your own mortality. Of course Elvis was World famous in Memphis... Poor Farrah Fawcett. Croaks it, tributes start to roll in about her being a 70s icon, hours later, coverage will be obliterated by the biggest 80s icon of the lot... Life (and Death) is timing...

I considered him for the DDP this year. I was only reading an article from him a couple of days ago about the legendarily awful US-based Irish football commentator Tommy Smyth. Seemed to have an unhealthy hatred for The Smiths/Morrissey. Basically he was born white and he didn't like that one bit...
