    Football

With Liverpool out of the competition, I hoped for a good price for Barcelona to win the Champions League. They were favourites (even in England, when all the other teams were Premier League). In the end, I put a speculative bet on Chelsea because of their greater odds' return. Chelsea tonight were unlucky, in that a few legitimate penalty shouts went against them. However, Chelsea (at home). against 10 men, never really strove to get a second goal. They deserve to be out of the competition for their torpor. The signs are that, with Villa and Everton improving season by season, Chelsea's future 3rd/4th qualifying place for Champions League football will be even more at risk.... I think Arsenal should be looking over their shoulders too, after that quite spineless display yesterday. Man City will have the dosh too, hopefully they won't turn into Chelsea II, for their success and for their general cuntishness...

I think you're mistaken. The scum won, didn't they? No, No, No!!! There is only one scum, super scum infact. Lets put it this way, If Ars..Arsen... ( no i cant bring myself to say it ) were up against the Gary Glitter Paedo Allstars, Id be cheering old Gary on. Its that bad I was for a while in a bit of a quandary over who to back in the final up untill the 93rd minute. It would have been like preferring Charles Manson over Harold Shipman. Thankfully Andrés Iniesta made the decision for me... A victory for Football

    The Dead Of 2009

Real, real shame about DeLuise. I have many, many happy memories of his roles in the Cannonball Run, Fievel Goes West & his Mel Brooks films as both a kid, and a young adult. Although I had heard he was getting better, positive news on him had been very short on the ground. As for Phair, I remember that story.. from what.. 3 or 4 years ago?

    Margaret Thatcher

BBC parliament channel is running the whole 1979 election, as if it wasn't painful the first time round. Fascinating stuff though, the country was split down the middle right at the off. Peregrine Worsthorne's comments about the country being divided during Thatcher's premiership was prophetic...

    Room 101

Im guessing that there is no alternative to watching the Beebs News bulletin? It is a bit wank, isnt it. Im sure you are not referring to the gorgeous and delicious Susanna Reid, she of the BBC Saturday morning breakfast news. MMMM!!! And if it's Celina Hinchcliffe you're talking about, it'll be "outside now!"

    Bird Flu

US Congressman Ron Paul (a former Presidential candidate) has raised concerns about the overkill on this situation. He was formerly a physician and refers back to 1976 outbreak..one person died, althoug 20+ died of the immunisation. Nobody yet in the USA has been isolated in hospital, but the US Homeland Security have now got involved (with unbeleievalbe power in thier hands). Given that Obama has agreed to release thousands of US troops for internal "duties" and there are a known 250,000 "family-sized" coffins stacked in the backwoods of the USA, what can you make of this? Preparedness???? If anyone's interested, I can provide links.... I'd like a link to the coffin reference. Good to see some healthy scepticism here. I think its just that the media has grown bored with the recession. They're desperate for it to be a pandemic. The TV people, in particular, love novelty. They couldn't wait to get in to their flack jackets in Iraq. Now everyone wants to wear a germ mask. Agreed.... I hope Swine Flu affects media people only. Then we'd get some peace...
