Southampton can't even win that ffs. We came third with a measely 15 managers. If you do manage to hang in there Mary, please enjoy your visit to your namesake stadium next year. And yes he's still a CNUT. Even more of a cnut now that Southampton are effectively down after that 10 point penalty...

Comedy & Death - Great Combination

That's the one who shot himself on TV wasn't it? I think I remember posting a link to youtube of that a few years ago... I think we're straying a bit from the remit of this thread. I don't find Budd Dwyer's death remotely funny....I mean, his timing is terrible... His death wasn't funny, the joke about it is. That was my point. Read the end of the sentence and you'll find my joke...

Comedy & Death - Great Combination

Amazingly, the show carried on. The curtain was drawn and subsequent acts had to work in a smaller space...with Cooper's size 13 feet sticking out from under the curtain, while paramedics tried in vain to save his life! You couldn't make it up...

It was a cracking game, but a little harsh for the heart. At least Liverpool can take heart in playing in some great matches this season, unlike some overrated sides I could mention...

Comedy & Death - Great Combination

Much more shocking than I'm led to remember or when I read it in the books. Ironic about his act really that the girl just smiles & moves the microphone further away thinking "Oh he's just larking about". But although it disturbed me, I'm glad I've seen it. Maybe being worse than people remember - that's why it's been hidden for 25 years... I think I'll give it a miss as the general consesus seems to be that it's more disturbing than they remember. I do remember watching it all those years ago as a kid but all I remember are the curtains being pulled. Believe me it is...

Fellow ghouls might be interested to know that footage of Tommy Cooper's death is now on the internet, apparently for the first time. Just Like That I finally get to see it after 25 years. Shocking really as he's clearly struggling before finally exiting stage left. Poor Tommy...

I'd never do a school reunion. There would be always some prick who'd done better than you... Oh, they've mostly all probably done better than me but I don't give a sh*t. My kids think I'm cool, that's enough for me. Anyhow, I've changed my mind and I'm not going. My liver needs cleansing. What with? Lux or Toilet Duck?

Congratulations to my local side Leicester City for getting promoted back to the Championship and for clinching their first divisional championship since the old Division Two in 1980... I support Liverpool though and ominously the last time Leicester won a title, Liverpool edged out Man Utd for the league championship that same season.... Also congrats to Wolverhampton Wanderers for getting promoted to the Premier League...

Fings Aint Wot They Used To Be..

Last night on ITV2, I watched the Justin Lee Collins show. In it there's a section where he has to guess an obscure face from TV past. For once, he got it wrong, but I knew who it was. It was Keith Jayne off of 'Stig of the Dump'. The reason why I mention this, is becasue I'm sure I remember a TV news item from about a decade or so go, where Jayne said he had some sort of disease or something. I can't remember what it was. He looks older, but not particularly unwell.

    The Dead Of 2009

What a fantastically eclectic grouping that is. Of the remaining four non-Wings (John Conteh, Michael Parkinson, Christopher Lee and Kenny Lynch), surely Dracula must be next. Not to split heirs MPFC, but Emma Freud isn't actually married to Richard Curtis, so he wasn't quite a son-in-law. But the number of celebrity connections is making my head spin. Freudian slip. He died 21 years to the day after Kenneth Williams died. I missed that for the Death Anniversay thread, but there was a rather more significant anniversary yesterday... I'm not sure I agree that Hilsborough is more significant than the Titanic but I take your point. Titanic as well? April 15th is cursed! Hillsborough was rather sooner though, to the tune of 77 years, but the 100th anniversary of the biggest martime distaster is coming fast...
