    Derby Dead Pool 2008

*whispers* They put in Frankie Laine, despite the fact he died last year. He was even on the first post of this years 50!

Birthdays, Births, Anniversaries ,etc ...for 2008

    Happy Birthday Banshees Scream!

    Derby Dead Pool 2008

My personal favourite is 'This Team Is So Safe It Is Sponsored by Volvo'
  4. themaninblack

Britney Spears, Kerry Katona, Heather Locklear et al.

Actually that wouldn't be a bad idea for a Deathlist spin-off, considering the amount of celebrity babies being born these days (like it's in fashion or summat!)...

    Chris Langham

Looks like Langham's on the comeback trail.... Langham and wife talk about ordeal Hmm...I wonder if Gary Glitter will get a sympathetic piece in the Grauniad/Ahbsurber?

Well 2-2 is rather better than 4-6! Well done son!

    Football

Not if your team's attitude got anything to do with it they wont. The less interested they are in the FA Cup, the further they'll get! Not a great day for the 'anyone but the big four' brigade, with Everton, Blackburn and Aston Villa all going out and Spurs probably following. Undiscovered civilisations in Java would have predicted the result at Villa Park...

    From Cleric To Relic

Yeah, but its so early in the year, he'll probably be gone by the time DDP 2009 comes around. Still, useful to know anyhow...

    The Dead Of 2008

He's dead. (The dad that is) Anyone pick him? Died before Christmas, so no points for this year. DWB Ah...

    Derby Dead Pool 2008

Looks like the DDP has reached its ceiling, unless there are less doubling of teams (theme teams etc) than before. Well done anyhow...

    Edmund Hillary

Yes he does. The other thread is located here. No what I mean was, shouldn't the existing thread be amalgamated. Then again it is early days... [Threads merged - ff] Hooray for that and an eclair for both of us!

    Edmund Hillary

Hang on, isn't there already a thread for this?

    The Dead Of 2008

You have to admire those who "tagged" him, particularly the joker-player. Nothing like a quick knock-out to start the New Year. There's ambulance chasing and there's ambulance chasing, but this takes the cake! Well done whoever picked him, particularly when most are distracted by the Christmas celebrations...

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

It seems as if the Times are interested in who's alive these days. One small step from organising their own deadpool methinks... Who's still alive? There are some useful snippets for keen deadpoolers for future reference although most we know about...

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2009

On Radio 2 this evening, there was a discussion about the chances of a Kinks reunion tour and it was mentioned that Peter Quaife, Devon born founding member and bassist of The Kinks has been suffering from kidney failure since 1998, his health has deteriorated over the last year. Ultimately, chronic kidney failure progresses in most people regardless of treatment and if he's suffered from it for a whole decade, I would imagine his prospects aren't that great. Yes, its funny how they're getting back together again...

    Derby Dead Pool 2008

Yes, he was. Ayers & Hewitt? Na... Yes they are. Miser, why Johansson? He has Alzheimer's & he's in his 70's. But I dropped him at the very last (or rather the 3rd of December) in favour of James Ellis, who has had bouts of illness for a while - to be honest I was surprised no-one else picked Ellis, but there you go. A case of nobody here but us chickens then?

    Derby Dead Pool 2008

Velimir Zajec was the World Cup player you were hinting at last year OoO... Surely Ayers and Hewitt from my team are uniques otherwise I'll be very disappointed....

    Derby Dead Pool 2008

Anyway, I hope you've had the courage of your convictions this year and gone for a little "variety" in your final DDP team, so we don't get a repeat of last year's hypocrisy... Nah, hypocrisy's my middle name DDT; my list is like a cancer hot house, crammed full of the little buggers all a poppin' and a sproutin'. But I am quite proud of Maurice Allais who I think may be cancer free and a unique pick. Almost wasn't mate, until I discovered Peggy Jay (that's if she's unique of course, pending..)

    Derby Dead Pool 2008

You're too generous DDT, we would accept that you'd keep a least a couple under your hat... Good solid team...

    The First 2008 Success Poll

Eli Wallach was picked as it would be a shame to have a DL without a Magnificent Seven star on it. Herbert Lom is 90 odd and how can he have outlived Peter Sellers for going on 30 years? As for Captain Beefheart, I hardly even know who he is. He's this guy....

    The Dead - 2007

Sorry to hear that Alphonsin, here's hoping you get a better job in 2008..

    Francis Pym

    Derby Dead Pool 2008

Does this include some ringers from the Maryport Parish Council? It's Maryport TOWN Council. FFS whad'ya take us for, rural bumpkins or summat? Since there are others of the same fleeting fame stripe - like Terry Lubbock - already nominated on this year's DDP I'd say we're in for the usual open and intense competition as we strive to emulate the achievements of the admirable FF. Mind, I got fifth, I think. First time out as well. Yeah, I came fifth in 2006 and then look what happened… A Happy New Year to you all and congratulations to Meet Your Maker (AKA Football Fan) for a 2nd successive DDP! You are clearly the one to beat… It was ‘difficult second album’ syndrome for me in 2007, but I hope to roar back into the top ten with this selection… Rowan Ayers (Father of Kevin, TV Producer, creator of the Old Grey Whistle Test amongst others) Archbishop Christodoulos Janez Drnovsek Basil D'Oliveira Farah Fawcett Estelle Getty Jesse Helms Charlton Heston Sir Lenox Hewitt (Father of Patricia, high ranking Aussie civil servant, former chairman of QANTAS) Edmund Hillary Peggy Jay (Mother of Peter, matriarch of Labour Party in London) Patrick McGoohan George T. D. Moore Sir John Mortimer Sydney Pollack Baron Francis Pym Roy Scheider Jeremy Thorpe Zdravko Tolimir (Joker) Gore Vidal Good luck everyone!
